The scenery outside the car window kept receding. Lindsey knew that she was having a hard time standing up, so there was no way she could escape.

Thick anxiety enveloped Lindsey. This place looked so secluded and Lindsey had never even been here before, so how could she escape from Liam Wilford?

She touched her belly and the tiny movement underneath gave her a little comfort.

They were traveling in a small convoy of three cars. They drove for another half hour or so before they stopped at the entrance of what appeared to be a not-too-big estate.

Lindsey noticed that the entrance was blooming with roses that looked unusually gorgeous. The manor's white facade was crawling with creepers, which gave it a quaint and elegant feel and accentuated the age of the historic building in front of her.

Andre pulled open the car door and turned to Lindsey, saying gently, "Ms. Juhl, we’re getting off soon, so there may be some bumps. If you don’t feel comfortable, just tell me."

The man's gentleness and courtesy were inborn in him. Lindsey had a feeling that Andre could still smile when he held up a knife to kill someone.

The few people who got down from the car dragged Lindsey's gurney out, then pushed her inside the manor.

"Ms. Juhl, you’ve once again surpassed my expectations." Andre looked at Lindsey with some regret. "I thought you’d try to escape as soon as you got off the car, or threaten us by killing yourself."

Lindsey laid down on the gurney and glanced at him. “Do you think I can escape like this? Why would I threaten to kill myself when Liam wants me dead?”

She did not know why a genius doctor like him would say such a stupid thing.

"No, Ms. Juhl, Mr. Wilford doesn't want you dead. He just wants your heart," Andre retorted.

"Then may I just ask, dearest Dr. Andre," Lindsey almost laughed at him. "If I don't have a heart, how am I to survive? Will I become a zombie?"

A frustrated look appeared on Andre's face. After he made such a scene, Lindsey’s mood was much more relaxed.

When she saw Liam, Lindsey was also shocked at her own calmness. She surprisingly did not spit at Liam’s face, nor did she curse at him.

In fact, it was not that she did not want to. It was just that she simply did not have the strength.

"Welcome back, my princess." The smile on Liam's face was ambiguous and smug. "I've been looking forward to your arrival for a long time."

"Sorry, but I wasn't looking forward to seeing you at all." Lindsey glared at him and withdrew her gaze.

"It doesn’t matter. I'm still happy to see you." Liam seemed to be in a really good mood. He was not even angry.

However, the smile on his face irked Lindsey. How could he still smile like that when he had killed so many people and would not even let her give birth to her child in peace?

Lindsey could pay her debt, but how could he hurt those who did nothing and did not even have any conflict of interest with him?

No one should ever be able to play God and decide who lives or dies.

"So what if I lied to you?" Liam interrupted her, "It’s a dog eat dog world. What right do you have to resist? Just stay here. I saved your life, so you should give your life to me. It’s all worth it."

Was it right to use others’ lives like this?

After Liam left, Lindsey passed out shortly after probably because she used too much energy to talk earlier. Andre came in to check her health condition and muttered to himself, "Are all American girls so brave? How strange."

Lindsey certainly could not hear what he said.

The manor was not very big. It had two blocks, one in the front and one at the back. Lindsey was sent to the back building, which was surrounded by trees, so during the day, the room still needed to be lit as there was barely any natural light.

When Andre checked on Lindsey, only an old maid and a young girl came to help him. That was probably because they were worried that the more people knew about Lindsey’s existence, the greater the chances of her whereabouts getting leaked.

Outside the manor, there were people everywhere who were responsible for protecting Lindsey. Or perhaps it was more accurate to say that they were watching her, but Andre felt that the word, “protecting”, sounded better.

This place was indeed very secluded. There were few people in the countryside of Germany. This manor was also not the Wilfords’ property, so it would be difficult for anyone to find their whereabouts.

When Zayn got off the plane, it was already evening in Germany. Quentin and Soren did not follow him and Zayn was truly alone this time.

There was not a hint of tiredness on his face from the long fight as he handed the coat in his hand to the person who came to pick him up. He asked in a low voice, "How’s the situation?"
