Allie wondered how Liam could still be so well-informed about what was going on outside when he was obviously under 24-hour surveillance.

"Brother." Allie sat down. She had regained composure after a while. Her heart was beating like a drum, but she forced herself to nod frankly and hid the anxiety on her face. "Yes, I went to find Zayn because he’s definitely behind this. Brother, he said that as long as you hand over Lindsey to him, you’ll be able to come out."

After hearing Allie's words, Liam's eyes turned colder. "You actually believed Zayn's words? He just wants to get me killed."

Allie wanted to retort, but Liam looked like he did not want to talk to her anymore. "I'll be fine. I'll be out soon. Don't believe anything Zayn says."

Visiting time was limited, but Liam had already left when it was not even time yet.

Allie was left sitting there confused. ‘Liam said he’d be out soon. What did that mean? I thought he still couldn’t get bail?’

She had her own plans. If Liam could guarantee that he would be fine, then she would not be able to do anything.

Her hair hanging down her face covered the resentment and ferocity on her face. To outsiders, she just looked like a pretty, youthful lady.

Lindsey did not know what was happening outside as she did not have any means to communicate with the outside world.

What she did not expect was that in just a few days, Sophie seemed to treat her like a good friend and talked to her about everything.

Sophie’s daily life was boring, so she was eager to look for Lindsey.

The maids and bodyguards received orders to absolutely obey Sophie. She was the apple of Liam’s eye, so the maids and bodyguards naturally did not dare to disobey her openly.

Moreover, Liam had temporarily lost control of the place and the news he received every day was limited, so he was unaware that in just a few days, Sophie treated Lindsey as a good friend.

Lindsey and Sophie were in the living room of the building where Sophie lived. Lindsey was holding a paintbrush in her hand and was clumsily filling the canvas with paint.

"That's not right. I'll teach you. Your gesture is wrong again. When your child grows up in the future, he’ll probably cry when he sees what you painted." Sophie laughed at Lindsey's novice doodling.

Lindsey shrugged, slightly embarrassed. "He'll forgive me. After all, it's my first time painting."

"No way." Sophie smiled and retorted. Her voice was soft when she spoke. She looked like a cute Southern girl, but she did not have a Southern accent.

"Why are you living here?" Lindsey casually asked what was on her mind as she continued to work on her first ever oil painting. The canvas was filled with miserable-looking flowers and greenery, but she was somewhat happy with it.

Sophie also had an easel in front of her with a few strokes on her canvas, but the effect was clearly not the same as Lindsey's. Sophie was painting a rose outside the window, with a strong and bright color scheme that popped out of the canvas.

She was not really focused. When she heard the question, she casually painted another stroke before saying, "I'm not well, so my fiancé sent me over to recuperate."

"Won't you be unwilling?" Lindsey also did not know why she asked this.

Sophie turned to look at her with a puzzled face. "Not willing to do what?"

"You’re still so young..."

"There are people who live to be 100 years old and don't even know what love is. Do you think they’re happy?" Sophie’s tone suddenly became stern.

"Sooner or later, that day will come. Those who walk on the road and get hit by a car, drown when they go swimming, or even eating and choking to death...do you think they’re willing? Certainly, they’re unwilling to just die like that because their lives ended unexpectedly and they didn’t have time to do all the things they wanted to.

"They simply don’t have the choice to be willing or unwilling to die. I can still sit here to answer your question, so I’ve been luckier than most people. Everyone has to face death one day, so what’s there to be reluctant about?"

Lindsey found herself unable to refute what Sophie said.

"I’m like a philosopher, huh?" Sophie suddenly came closer to Lindsey, who was caught off guard. She then jerked her head away.

Sophie succeeded in painting Lindsey’s face and smiled cheekily.

Suddenly, a news broadcast came from a corner of the room. Lindsey and Sophie’s attention were instantly attracted to it.
