Lindsey’s body trembled for a moment as she was pushed into the machine with her hands bound. However, her eyes grew calmer.

The doctor with blue eyes was operating the machine and the small circular door above her head was closed. Lindsey's body was enveloped in warm yellow light, but she could not feel the slightest warmth and even felt claustrophobic.

It seemed like a century passed before Lindsey was finally pulled out of this small cage.

Perhaps due to the incident where Lindsey threatened to stab herself with tweezers, her hands were tied whenever she stepped out of the room. Lindsey struggled but to no avail.

The doctors did not say a word. Lindsey just watched in silence as they wrote down one number after another. Her expression was numb.

She felt like a prisoner on death row that was awaiting her sentence because they told her that she was going to die soon, but they did not tell her when and let her mind run wild with guesses.

Lindsey was in a daze when the doctor's sharp, urgent voice suddenly sounded in her ears.

It was the sound of a fire alarm.

‘Is the place on fire?’

The doctor and nurse obviously heard it too. They looked at each other and saw the surprise in each other's eyes.

"Take her away first. I'll go check it out." The doctor tucked the small notebook into his pocket and turned to walk out after his instruction.

The nurse nodded and immediately went up to drag Lindsey to leave.

Lindsey was not very cooperative. Although the sirens outside were noisy and alarming, she still did not want to obey them.

The nurse saw that Lindsey was deliberately making her life difficult and showed some impatience. Before she could get angry, the door that the doctor left from was suddenly pushed open again.

"Dr. Andre?" The nurse could not hide her surprise and even looked a little bashful.

Andre sized Lindsey up and nodded gently. "There's a fire downstairs. The Professor asked me to ensure Ms. Juhl's safety, so leave her to me. You should go first."

He rarely spoke to these nurses mainly because he was often immersed in his own world and rarely communicated with others.

The nurse blushed and her eyes faintly wavered. She pushed Lindsey in Andre's direction and said, "Okay. Should I follow you?"

Andre caught Lindsey and smiled lightly. "No need."

After saying that, he held Lindsey's arm and lightly tapped his finger. He then pushed the door open and walked out.

Lindsey did not say anything earlier. When she got to the corridor, she swept a glance around and found that it was strange. "Where are the bodyguards here?"

Andre pulled her away quickly. When he heard this, he paused for a moment and sounded a bit embarrassed as he said, "I tricked some of them to put out the fire. The rest of them..." He turned his head and looked helpless as he continued, "I just made them sleep for a while."

Perhaps it was his first time doing such things. Andre looked embarrassed when met Lindsey’s gaze and lowered his head. Then, he pulled her again and said, "Let’s hurry!"

"Why are you doing this?" Lindsey followed Andre's pace. "Didn't you guys always think that it was the right thing to do?"

Lindsey shook her head. Liam would not even care who was backing Andre.

However, it was too good an opportunity to miss.

After thinking about it, Lindsey gestured for Andre to help her untie her restraints and quickly pulled him into the car.

"Let's go together!" After saying that, Lindsey locked the car door and ignored the surprise on Andre's face. She then stepped on the gas pedal.

"No, no! Ms. Juhl, I can't go." Andre finally reacted to this. His path had always been laid out for him and Lindsey was just an accidental fork in the path. It was not his intention to go down this fork in the road.

"Stop talking," Lindsey interrupted Andre, "You'll be flayed alive by Liam Wilford if you stay."

Andre probably did not realize the gravity of the problem and tried to reason with Lindsey. "No, he won’t. This is wrong. I told Mr. Wilford that he needs to look for a voluntary donor heart. He’ll understand."

Lindsey was rendered completely speechless by Andre’s train of thought. If Liam was really willing to do so, or if Sophie's situation allowed it, Lindsey would not have been held captive.

"Listen to me." Lindsey drove the car out of the parking lot. She was extremely nervous. This escape was too smooth. She was so easily saved by Andre, the stick-in-the-mud, which made her feel a little uneasy.

Lindsey did not dare to drive too fast and drove out only to find that the chaos she imagined did not exist. Smoke was coming out of the building upstairs, but it was a little too quiet.

Her heart sank and her voice was a little tense. "Andre, did you come up with this plan?"

This stick-in-the-mud definitely could not fool others, but Lindsey was afraid that he had been fooled.
