When Zayn came down the rope ladder from the helicopter, he only saw Liam standing in the rough sea breeze, holding a body in his arms.

His eyes suddenly narrowed and he immediately took a few steps forward. His eyes were cold as he said, "Liam Wilford! Where is Lindsey?"

When he got closer, Zayn finally saw that Liam was holding a woman in his arms. The woman's features were exactly what he had seen in the photo. It was Sophie Leger.

The scalpel on Sophie's chest was glimmering. No one had expected such a dramatic ending. Zayn swept a glance around but did not see Lindsey.

Liam also did not speak. He just raised his head and nodded in the direction of the cabin.

Liam’s people had already retreated, so the deck was filled with only Zayn's men.

Seeing his action, Soren stepped forward, but Zayn was faster than Soren and instantly rushed to the cabin.

Soren and Shaun had been wary that Liam would set up an ambush or some sort of trap. Thus, they were surprised to see Sophie's body. Moreover, Liam looked like he was giving up.

In the next second, Shaun and a few others, who were following closely behind Zayn, got to the cabin door and heard Zayn's desperate low roar coming from inside the cabin.

Shaun stopped in his tracks for a second before he quickly darted inside.

When he saw Lindsey lying on the operating table with a pool of blood underneath her and her whole body looking so lifeless, Shaun's heart tightened.

"Lindsey?" Zayn jumped onto the operating table where Lindsey was lying, but he did not know where to place his hands and did not dare to touch Lindsey.

The two of them had not seen each other for a few months, but it felt like they were separated for centuries. Zayn saw Lindsey lying flat on the operating table with a bulge in her belly like she was hiding a small bag under her shirt. The last time they met, Lindsey's belly only had a tiny bump.

Lindsey's face was pale and skinny. She looked like she had lost a lot of weight. Usually, women would put on weight during pregnancy. She was the only one who seemed to be getting thinner.

There was heartache, regret, self-blame, and a deep, uncontrollable nostalgia in Zayn’s eyes as he looked at Lindsey.

"Lindsey, please say something..." Finally, Zayn slowly touched Lindsey's face. He was in disbelief and never dared to put his finger under Lindsey’s nose to check if she was still breathing.

He felt like he was engulfed by great despair. His heart shrunk into a ball and it was so painful that he could not breathe. For a while, he was at a loss of what to do and felt like a lost child. He only knew to call out her name mechanically.

"Zayn." Shaun suddenly went forward to pull Zayn away. Shaun’s fingers were trembling violently, but he was determined and slowly put his finger under Lindsey’s nose.

Lindsey’s breathing was very faint. After several attempts, Shaun finally felt her faint breath.

"She’s still alive!" Shaun breathed a sigh of relief and retracted his finger from under Lindsey's nose. He stood up straight and was relieved.

Shaun saw Zayn's eyes widening and filled with hope, but Shaun could not care less at that moment. He quickly shouted, "Where's the doctor? Get the doctor to come in!"

"You should stop thinking of ways to resist." Shaun collected his thoughts and said, "You can't escape the law for what you've done, so just surrender now!"

"Shut up!" Liam interrupted Shaun with an unpleasant look on his face. "When did I try to resist?"

"You think you’re so smart, huh?" Liam's eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at Shaun. "Is Lindsey dead? If she’s not, she will be soon, right? Hahahahaha..."

Liam suddenly burst into laughter. By the end of it, he laughed until tears came out of his eyes, yet he was still holding Sophie’s body tightly.

He looked down on the people below from where he was standing. The fishy and salty sea breeze dried up his tears and left only dried tear marks on his face.

Liam finished laughing and could not care less that Shaun and the others were looking at him like he was a madman. He sneered and said, "Do you think the law can do anything to me? Shaun Juhl, you’re so naive. I’ll choose where I end up!"

After saying that, Shaun saw Liam gently kiss Sophie’s forehead and even lingered for a moment before Liam raised his head.

Liam looked up at the sky, which was pitch black without a ray of light, much like his life. The only light in his life had extinguished and left behind overwhelming and never-ending darkness.

The next second, Liam gently closed his eyes and suddenly leaned back. The weight of two people pressed down on his body as he tumbled over the railing behind him, falling heavily into the cold seawater below.

"Liam Wilford!" When Shaun saw Liam's figure disappear, he abruptly widened his eyes. He did not expect Liam to be so determined that he would jump into the sea holding Sophie’s body.
