In Chapter 371 The Cold Yvette Wendell, a key moment in the Romance novel Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean, Internet delivers powerful storytelling, emotional shifts, and critical plot development. This chapter deepens the reader’s connection to the characters and sets the stage for upcoming revelations.

During this time, Lester did two hypnotherapy sessions with Lindsey, who cooperated, but the effect was not very obvious.

Even though Lindsey stopped talking about wanting to find her child, she spent most of her time sitting in front of the floor-to-ceiling window on the second floor. She would hug her legs, which was a defensive and insecure posture. She would just stare blankly outside, but her eyes were often hollow.

Her eyes were like a pool of stagnant water. Those eyes that used to be so animated seemed to have completely lost their luster and had shut off from communicating with the outside world.

Zayn exhausted all methods but still made no progress. The two of them quickly lost weight over this short period.

Shaun Juhl also stayed in Germany during this time. From time to time, he would come over to visit Lindsey.

He had heard about Lindsey’s condition from Zayn, but since Zayn had tried everything and it did not work, all Shaun could do was to talk to Lindsey and give her a little guidance.

That day, Shaun came over with someone they did not expect to see, Yvette Wendell. It had not even been half a year since the last time they met, but everything seemed so different.

Yvette looked a lot more mature and her eyes were no longer as ignorant as before. It felt like she had encountered something life-changing.

Most importantly, the way she looked at Shaun was cold. She no longer looked at him as if he was the most handsome man nor with unconcealed adoration. Shaun and Yvette also seemed a little distant.

"Auntie Yvie!" Sieben greeted Yvette.

The smile on Yvette's face froze for a moment. There was even a visible crack in her smile, but she quickly composed herself and reached out to pinch Sieben's cheek. "Good girl, Sieben! You’ve grown taller, so I guess you’ve been eating well during this time."

Her pinch was not too strong, but at that moment, Yvette carried a mischievousness that made her look like a child.

Shaun saw Yvette childishly pinching Sieben’s cheek and unconsciously curled up his lips. He was caught off guard when Yvette turned over and their eyes met.

The look in Yvette's eyes immediately turned into cold politeness. Shaun also withdrew his gaze in an instant.

Yvette took the cup of coffee from the table and took a small sip. Sieben was staring at it longingly, so Yvette glanced at Shaun and took the cup of coffee in front of him for Sieben. “You can drink this. Careful, it’s hot.”

Shaun was stunned but did not say much. He could not help but size up Yvette again.

Yvette put down the cup of coffee in front of Sieben and looked back elegantly. Her voice was self-righteous as she said, “Sieben wants some and I saw that you didn’t touch yours yet.”

"It's okay, let her drink it." Shaun smiled faintly and suddenly felt a little headache.

Yvette, who was sitting across the table from him, rolled her eyes and muttered, “Hypocrite.”

Shaun did not refute. He just looked at Yvette until she felt uncomfortable and picked up her coffee cup again.

Next to her, Sieben suddenly made a disgusted sound and looked like she was about to cry. "Blegh! It's so bitter!"

Sieben was afraid of scalding herself and carefully picked it up before taking a sip. Who knew it would be so bitter that her entire face was scrunched up.

Soren was not there, so no one was watching her.

"Yesterday," Yvette spoke more eloquently these days. "My brother has a collaboration with Mr. Guggenheim and Mr. Juhl here, but he’s tied up in the States, so he asked me to come in his stead."

Lindsey nodded lightly. "That's good. I thought you haven't graduated yet. How come you've started working in the company so soon?"

Yvette laughed a little. “I’m graduating soon. My brother says that theory is useless and that I should help carry some of his burden at the company. It’s been pretty tough on him all these years.”

Lindsey propped her head up on one hand while she listened to Yvette. She rarely spoke, but Yvette was talking endlessly about things back home. She was describing how beautiful it was in Atlantic City now that it was spring. Lindsey listened and was also yearning to go back home.

"We'll go back once we find the baby. I hope it’ll still be spring by then," Lindsey suddenly smiled and said.

After saying that, she was afraid that Yvette would not get it and added with a smile, "You must not know yet, my baby’s missing. They all lied to me that he’s dead, but I don’t believe it. I can certainly find him."

Yvette finally became silent and the smile on her face gradually froze.

She had heard about Lindsey’s condition a while ago, but just hearing about it was a completely different thing from experiencing it coming from an old friend.

Next to her, Shaun's face turned glum for a moment.

"I finished the candy. Auntie Yvie, do you have any more?" Sieben asked directly without sensing the depressing atmosphere. She came up to Yvette and looked at her with pleading eyes.

"Yeah, I do." Yvette came back to her senses and fumbled to fish out a handful of candies from her pocket.
