A few minutes later, Zayn stood at the corner of the street and saw the silver car, which was the car Lindsey drove earlier. However, the car was empty. Lindsey and Dezi were nowhere to be found.
"President, I checked the surveillance. Madam seemed to have accidentally hit someone earlier. After Madam got out of the car to check on him, the man was injured, but he suddenly ran away. Strangely enough, Madam chased after him while carrying the Young Master. I’ve asked our men to follow the direction Madam ran in to look for them."
Soren finished his report and handed over a photo, which showed Lindsey helping up a disheveled-looking man.
Zayn squinted his eyes for a few moments and could not connect him with anyone he knew, but Lindsey went after him, which meant that she probably knew him.
This déjà vu made Zayn speechless.
They had just been reunited for a short while. Why would something like this happen again?
The vibes Zayn was giving off were simply frightening. His face was so dark that even Soren could not help but take two steps back.
Suddenly, Zayn heard someone panting. In the next second, Zayn's leg was suddenly held tightly by a pair of short arms.
He lowered his head and saw Dezi, who had just left with Lindsey, looking at him with a frightened expression.
Zayn was suddenly so emotional. He subconsciously looked behind Dezi, but there was no one else. Besides Dezi, there was no sign of Lindsey.
"Where’s Mommy?" Zayn picked up Little Dezi with one arm. He then squeezed his little shoulder with some urgency.
Dezi's little face was covered in sweat and his face was pale from running. The tiny person kept panting heavily, but he tugged on Zayn's sleeve and pointed in another direction.
"Is Mommy over there?" Zayn did not know how horrifying he looked at the moment. Little Dezi had never seen this side of Zayn before and for a moment, fear flashed in her eyes, but he still nodded his head.
"Good boy!" Zayn suppressed his anxiety and let go of the hand that was squeezing the boy. He gently touched Dezi’s head and asked, "Do you remember the way? Bring Daddy over to find Mommy, okay?"
Little Dezi nodded his head.
His small chest was still heaving. Zayn jumped in the car and placed Dezi on his lap. He then drove as fast as he could at the maximum speed.
A few minutes later, they arrived at the opening of the alley where Lindsey disappeared. The car could not fit in the alley, so Zayn held Dezi in his arms and looked very tense as he surveyed the empty place.
Little Dezi struggled to jump down from his arms, then he pulled Zayn's hand and walked to a certain position. He then made a running motion and pointed behind him. He then reached to the side of his face and gestured that someone was grabbing at them.
Zayn's eyebrows furrowed tighter. "Are you saying that you and Mommy were running and someone was chasing you from behind?"
Little Dezi still looked terrified and nodded heavily.
Zayn could tell that Dezi was still afraid, so he carried him and patted his back gently. "Alright, don’t be scared. Daddy will find Mommy."
His eyes turned colder by the second and could not help but ask, "What are the people chasing you and Mommy like? Do you still remember?"
Zayn put Dezi in the back seat and told him to behave before he drove towards the outskirts of the city.
The sky was getting dark. Lindsey had a splitting headache and the back of her head had a strange throbbing sensation. Her consciousness gradually returned and she opened her eyes, only to find that it was pitch black all around her.
Her throat was a little dry, so Lindsey swallowed her saliva to feel more comfortable. She could move her arms and legs freely. The men just threw her here and did not do anything else.
Lindsey sat up and reached out to touch the back of her head. She felt a large lump, which made her wince in pain.
"Is someone there?" Lindsey gathered her strength and shouted.
Her voice immediately echoed throughout the room. It was not a small space.
Lindsey was leaning against a wall. She fumbled to stand up, then asked again, "Is anyone there?"
There was barely any light and it was pitch black. The surroundings were extremely eerie. Lindsey did not dare to move because she did not know what was going on in the darkness around her. No one could remain calm in the darkness.
She thought of Ann, the mysterious and gorgeous woman. What did she ever do to Ann that she wanted to capture her and do this to her?
Lindsey also thought of Dezi. He could not talk and she did not know if he managed to run away. He was such a small child. Even if he ran away, he might not even be able to find the way home. What if he got lost and was taken away by bad people?
She stretched out her hands and hugged herself tightly. Only then did she realize her recklessness.
