Yvette hastily waved her hand to deny it. "No, no."
It must have been the kiss earlier that made her a little woozy, so she asked such a dumb question.
Shaun had already resumed his unhurried pace. His long legs strode away and continued to walk forward as he explained to Yvette, "It’s usually just me at home. The maids go back to their own homes at night."
"Oh." Yvette looked at her toes and still felt that it was a little too lonely at night in such a large house.
Suddenly, there was a shadow in front of her. Before Yvette could react, she bumped into the man.
The tip of her nose knocked into the man's chest and she instantly felt a soreness. Her tears almost fell out and she subconsciously wanted to take a step back, but her slim waist was held by him.
Shaun did not expect that she would walk into him and reached out to grab her. He touched her nose gently and asked with concern, “Are you alright?”
Yvette felt like she had hit a rock. Her eyes were teary and she gently hit Shaun’s chest. She sounded very aggrieved as she said, "Why is your chest so hard?"
Shaun held her hand and said, “Fine, it’s my fault...but you shouldn’t hit my pecs because it’ll just hurt your hand.”
Yvette was instantly amused by his words and burst into laughter. The tip of her nose quickly recovered and the sore feeling dissipated.
She reached out, rubbed her hand, and did not feel much pain. She then looked up at Shaun.
The two of them were so close that when she looked up, she looked straight into Shaun's smiling eyes, which glistened under the streetlight.
Yvette subconsciously wanted to indulge in it.
She was stunned for a few seconds before she came back to her senses. She quickly pushed Shaun away and said, “Let’s hurry back. My brother will get worried soon.”
There was a flash of disappointment in Shaun’s eyes, but he quickly regained composure.
Jade Garden and the Wendell mansion were not very far apart, but Shaun drove for more than half an hour before they arrived.
Eventually, Yvette noticed and looked at him weirdly. Finally, she could not help but mutter, "I think a tortoise will be faster than your car..."
Shaun looked at her and said frankly, "Safety first."
In return, he got a blank stare from Yvette.
Before the car got to the Wendell mansion, Yvette stopped Shaun from driving any further. "My brother will get mad if he sees you."
She stole a glance at Shaun and found the man looking at her expressionlessly. She then hastily withdrew her gaze.
Shaun sighed and stopped the car on the side. "Go ahead then, I’ll watch you go in."
Yvette nodded and wanted to say something, but in the end, she could not hide the embarrassment at the bottom of her heart and stuttered, "Well...good night."
After that, she opened the car door and stepped out with one foot, but suddenly, Shaun domineeringly grabbed her waist and kissed her passionately.
Shaun kissed Yvette until she was breathless before he finally let her go.
He gently straightened her hair while he smiled with his eyes. "Okay, now you can go."
Next to her, Dezi looked so excited while he opened his gift, and Shaun was looking at him dotingly. Lindsey thought about it and did not continue her nagging.
Once Dezi was playing with his new gift, Lindsey looked askance at Shaun. "So...tell me."
Shaun let out a bitter laugh. "I ran out of options."
He did not mention Zayn because seeing as Zayn did not even come to stop it personally and only ruined the proposal behind the scenes, Shaun was not sure what Zayn was up to.
If he were to mention it to Lindsey, it would just make her more troubled, so why bother?
"Although your method isn’t right this time, at least you took the initiative. So how is it? Did Yvette accept you?" Lindsey wanted Shaun to spill the tea and looked at him with a burning gaze.
The smile on Shaun's face faded a little. After a long time, he shook his head. "I don't know."
"What do you mean, you don't know?" Lindsey was flabbergasted.
"It looks like she's not mad anymore, but I don't know what she’s really thinking." He shrugged. "There's no rush."
If Shaun was not anxious, Lindsey naturally could not rush him. She just felt like a busybody that could not help but worry endlessly.
"Linds, there’s one more thing I wanted to tell you." Shaun changed the topic and did not talk about himself anymore. His tone also became somewhat serious.
Lindsey paused and turned serious. "What is it? Why do you sound so serious?"
