"What did you buy for him again? My house isn’t big enough for all the things that you bought him." Lindsey was so helpless that she almost facepalmed.
Shaun did not think that he bought a lot of things and said as a matter of fact, “Well, if your house isn’t big enough, I’ll get you a bigger house. You might think this apartment is big enough now, but when Dezi gets older, you’ll definitely need more space.”
"Brother..." Lindsey was helpless with his approach.
The two of them carried a huge box to the door and had completely forgotten about Zayn’s existence.
When Lindsey was about to open the door, a pair of hands came over and carried half of the weight she was lifting. He said frankly, "I'll take it in for you, just open the door."
Zayn had such a good attitude. His lowered eyes even made him look a little pitiful. Lindsey suddenly felt soft-hearted and swallowed back the words that she wanted to say.
Shaun mercilessly mocked him. “Mr. Guggenheim, I’ve never noticed that you’re such a warm-hearted person.”
Zayn gritted his teeth. "Mr. Juhl, I can’t compare to you, who is such a philanthropist." The two men looked at each other provocatively.
Fortunately, Lindsey had already pushed open the door and went in, so she did not hear the conversation between the two of them. Otherwise, she would have told the both of them to get lost before entering the door.
Mrs. Wendy thought that Zayn had already left. When she came out with a plate of hot food, not only did she see that Zayn had not left, but Shaun was also here.
The two men placed the huge package in the living room and dusted their hands. Lindsey handed Shaun a glass of water. "Brother, drink some water." She completely ignored Zayn, who was next to her.
Zayn looked coldly at these two. The jealousy and bitterness in his heart almost engulfed him, but in the next second, his pants were suddenly tugged gently.
He lowered his head and looked right into Dezi’s little face that was smiling to reveal a neat row of small white teeth. Dezi held up his cup with difficulty. It was his pastel blue cartoon mug with half a cup of water inside.
The sadness Zayn felt had not set in yet before it abruptly disappeared. Zayn squatted down and looked at Dezi. He could not hide the delight in his eyes. "Is this for Daddy?"
Little Dezi nodded, took Zayn's hand, then stuffed the cup into his hand. Zayn held it and felt so blessed.
All that mattered was that his son still loved him.
Lindsey swept a glance at the father and son pair and saw the silly smile on Zayn's face. She did not say anything, but the corner of her lips could not help but curl up a little.
Since he was already in the house, it was not good to kick him out again because that would look too deliberate. Lindsey turned around and went to the kitchen to help Mrs. Wendy set the table. Before she left, she just said to no one in particular, "Since you're here, eat before you leave."
Zayn and Shaun both acquiesced that Lindsey was talking to themselves and gave each other a disdainful glance.
Shaun finished the glass of water in one gulp and looked at Zayn provokingly. As a result, he saw Zayn holding a children’s mug with both hands, sipping the water like it was some sort of fine wine. He looked like he was enjoying every sip of it.
Shaun initially wanted to provoke Zayn but was rendered speechless by Zayn’s actions instead. Dezi only gave him a cup of water, so was that really necessary?
The two men were silent at the dinner table probably because they knew that if they dared to have a go at each other, Lindsey would kick them out, so they just kept quiet.
Dezi was sitting in between Zayn and Lindsey. He was very satisfied with this meal and even swung his short legs on his high chair happily.
Lindsey avoided Zayn's gaze the entire time. She took care of Dezi's meal and did not make any eye contact with Zayn or communicate with him in any way. They were simply like strangers.
Seeing Lindsey’s bony cheeks, Zayn wanted to advise her to eat more, but he held back and clenched his fork in his hand tightly.
After dinner, the sky outside was already dark. Shaun was very understanding and bid Lindsey goodbye. Lindsey looked at Zayn, but he was concentrating on a game with Dezi and did not receive her signal to leave.
Lindsey did not know if this guy really did not notice it or if he did it on purpose. She just felt a bit of a headache.
Shaun walked up to Dezi and stroked his head gently and kindly. "Dezi, Uncle Shaun is going home now."
Little Dezi was sitting on the floor. When he heard this, he blinked his eyes, then went up to hug Shaun's neck and gave him a kiss on each side of Shaun’s cheeks.
Shaun was very content with this. Lindsey coughed lightly on the side and reminded Dezi. "Dezi, Daddy’s leaving too, go kiss Daddy as well."
Zayn, who was forced to leave, was speechless.
