Lindsey patted Yvette on the shoulder and reassured her. "Think of it this way, you weren’t paid back then. At least now you have a salary."

Yvette wanted to say that she did not have to do this to get paid and that the annual dividends she received as a shareholder were much more than this meager salary.

On second thought, that did not change the fact that she was here for training, so she just kept her mouth shut.

After downing her coffee, Yvette was like a revived person and continued to do what she had to do.

On the third day of the meeting, Lindsey met someone that she expected to see.

The door to the meeting room was half-open. When Zayn arrived, Lindsey was having a hard time looking for a specific file in the computer database with Yvette.

Zayn came over quietly. Lindsey was wearing glasses and was about to extract something from the computer screen when a somewhat cold male voice came from behind her, "That’s wrong. It’s not needed."

Lindsey subconsciously looked back and saw Zayn standing behind her. His eyes were clearly on the computer screen in front of her, but she somehow had a weird feeling that he was looking at her.

She pushed up her glasses that slid down her nose and looked at the screen carefully. She noticed that she had gotten the wrong information and casually let out a dull “oh” without saying thanks, then deleted that screenshot.

The presence of the man behind her was so strong that Lindsey could not ignore it even if she wanted to.

The last incident was not too long ago, so Lindsey was still repulsed by any interaction with Zayn, especially when it seemed like they were getting along well, the two of them somehow always managed to argue without any reason.

Lindsey had to admit that she was getting a bit sick of it.

Even though Lindsey did not feel like speaking, the man behind her did not have the same thoughts. When he saw that Lindsey was taking a long time searching for that information, he coldly snorted. “So this is Hemera’s employee’s standards? With this standard, you can still attend this technical meeting? Hemera even wants to get a piece of this market share. Shaun’s decision is really too hasty.”

When Zayn was mocking others, his voice was flat like a robot without any emotion, but the words that came out always poked people's pain points.

Lindsey took a deep breath and told herself to ignore Zayn. That was because the angrier she got, he would get more satisfied and would insult her more, but if she ignored him, he would stop himself.

Although Lindsey could endure it, the person beside her, Yvette, obviously could not stand it. When Yvette heard Zayn talking like this, she immediately raised her eyebrows. "Zayn, how can you talk like this?"

Yvette was upset for Lindsey and Shaun and could not accept the words that came out of Zayn’s mouth.

It was obvious that Zayn was only targeting Lindsey. After looking at Yvette, he said, "The ability of Hemera’s employees isn’t good. Am I not telling the truth?"

"You can’t say that," Yvette retorted. “We’re here to learn because we’re not good at this subject. Zayn, you’re being too harsh.”

Zayn looked at Lindsey meaningfully and said, "But I'm afraid that some people aren’t smart enough to learn, and that will even affect others."

Lindsey was fed up and stood up in a huff. “Mr. Guggenheim, with your sharp tongue, it’s a waste that you don’t have your own talk show. Managing the company is a waste of your talent."

Zayn smiled slightly. "I'm not talented and I'm better at managing the company. When it comes to talking, it really depends on who it is."

Was that why Zayn usually spoke a few words to others and only spoke so eloquently when he was mocking her?

Lindsey really did not want to babble on with him.

Thinking that she had not actually had this kind of bonding time shopping and eating with friends in a long time, Lindsey pondered for a moment and finally agreed. "But I want to be home before 9:00 pm."

"Okay!" Yvette happily clapped her hands, then lamented in disbelief. "9:00 pm? Lindsey, your curfew is earlier than mine!"

"I can't help it." Lindsey was also helpless.

Thinking about the big dinner this evening, every second of work seemed to be infinitely stretched.

After work, Lindsey went to the basement parking lot with Yvette.

Usually, Yvette’s driver would pick her up, but today, they just took Lindsey’s car so that it was easier for Lindsey to go home from the restaurant.

After getting into the car, Yvette touched her bag and slapped her forehead in annoyance. "Oh no! Lindsey, I left something behind."

"Oh? Where did you leave it?" Lindsey just put on her seatbelt and looked at Yvette when she heard the words.

Yvette scratched her head and could not recall. Finally, she said with uncertainty, "Probably the conference room, or maybe the pantry...can you wait for me a while? I'll go up and look for it."

Since they were not rushing for time, Lindsey nodded. "Go ahead then, I'll wait here."

After Yvette got out of the car, the car instantly became quiet. The heating inside the car warmed Lindsey’s body bit by bit, so Lindsey casually took off her jacket and put it aside.
