The waiter saw that Lindsey's glass was empty and took the initiative to replace it with a new one.

After drinking one glass of wine, Lindsey felt that her breath was tainted with a faint scent of wine as she spoke. This wine was slightly sweeter than ordinary red wine and was to Lindsey's taste.

Even though Lindsey was sitting here for another reason, she still found that Mitchell Wadleigh had stayed with her for a little too long.

"Mr. Wadleigh, don’t you need to go over to socialize?" Lindsey tried to make her tone as polite as possible like she was just asking casually.

Mitchell was a quick-witted person and immediately got the hint. He looked like he had just realized the time and said, "I don’t have much to socialize, but I happened to see a few acquaintances before I went abroad, so I’ll go over and say hello. Ms. Juhl, please excuse me."

Lindsey nodded, clinked her glass with Mitchell’s, then watched as he left before she let out a long sigh.

There were not many people around her area. Lindsey sipped the wine in her glass and ate a few bites of the small dessert on the table. She was quite relaxed.

She was not willing to socialize and there was no need to do so since most of the people at this party were familiar faces. However, for Lindsey, it was not a good kind of familiarity.

Lindsey would much prefer to be alone.

However, Lindsey was obviously dreaming.

Right after Mitchell left, Yvette, who had just disappeared for a long time, came back right on time and even brought Shaun, who was supposed to be very busy, with her.

Lindsey held her forehead gently and looked at Yvette seriously. “Young lady, what were you trying to do?!”

She knew that Mitchell Wadleigh would not just “happen to” sit next to her, get to know her, and even talk to her for so long.

Hearing that, Yvette took a step back and pushed Shaun in front of her, using him as a shield. "I don't know anything, ask him!

Shaun was sandwiched between two women and simply wanted to laugh. He reached out and held Yvette’s hand that was pushing him. He did not look guilty at all for setting his sister up, then led Yvette to sit opposite Lindsey. He even took a sip of his champagne with grace.

"First of all, it wasn’t me." Shaun shirked the responsibility. "Mr. Wadleigh came to me first and said that you helped him before, so he wanted a chance to get to know you. That’s why I invited him here."

Lindsey was irritated and said, “Brother, you can’t just believe what other people tell you! I don’t even know him, so it’s kinda awkward.”

Shaun laughed and did not say anything. Next to him, Yvette chimed in, “How is it awkward? I think that Mitchell Wadleigh is pretty decent. He looks like a gentleman and is quite handsome too! Also, you looked quite happy talking to him just now.”

By the end of her sentence, Yvette smiled mischievously and her voice was a little loud. Even Zayn, who lowered his eyes, looked up at them, then casually lowered his head again and downed his glass of wine.

Lindsey did not look at Zayn. She rubbed her temples and said feebly, "I'm begging you guys, just let me go. It's so embarrassing."

Shaun gave a somewhat disgruntled glance at Yvette. "How can you say that other men are handsome in front of me?"

He was so busy that he only stayed for a while before he stood up to entertain the guests, leaving Yvette and Lindsey alone.

However, she had already blurted it out. Moreover, after seeing Lindsey and Zayn interact with each other, Yvette felt that they did not get a divorce because they no longer had feelings for each other.

They clearly had a light in their eyes when they looked at each other, but there was also a deep sadness.

Since she already said it, she gritted my teeth and whispered into Lindsey’s ear, "Zayn has been looking at you secretly when he came over. Even after changing positions, he still looked over to this side."

Yvette then shrugged and said, “I doubt he’s looking at me.”

Lindsey hooked up the corners of her lips. "You never know!"

She picked up another glass of wine on the table and sat up straight after taking a sip. Her lowered eyelashes slowly lifted a little and caught a glimpse of Zayn's figure not far away.

However, when she looked over, Zayn was talking to the person opposite him and did not even glance at her.

Lindsey downed the remaining wine in the glass. It was quite a full glass that Lindsey choked a little and the corners of her eyes abruptly turned red.

Yvette reached out to pat her on the back. "Why are you drinking so quickly?"

When Lindsey stopped coughing, Yvette rubbed her back again to help soothe her breathing while she hit her own mouth with her other hand. "It’s all my fault. I shouldn't have said so much. Lindsey, don't feel sad."

Lindsey did not blame her. The corners of her eyes were red like she had cried. "It's okay, I'm not sad."
