Lindsey did not understand Danish, but this did not affect her from guessing what Arthur's words meant.
She saw that several people took out a few bottles of water and poured them over the man with a bloodied head.
It was early spring, so it was still a bit cold. It was unbearable to have cold water poured on one’s head in this weather. The man just slurred a few words and did not wake up. Perhaps it was because he was hurt too badly.
Lindsey just frowned as she watched. Arthur’s men saw that this man was still not awake, so they took out a set of tools, pulled one out, and clamped it on the man's hand several times.
It looked so painful that Lindsey looked away.
The men spent some effort trying out other tools as Lindsey watched from the side, frowning from time to time or turning away because she could not bear it. Arthur watched Lindsey’s reaction and was amused.
She clearly felt that it was very cruel, but she still could not help but watch. She was clearly afraid, but she remained calm. She was obviously a mess, but she still stood there with some smugness.
This woman was really a combination of contradictions.
"They look so skilled like they’re so used to these methods," Lindsey muttered under her breath as she watched Arthur's men torturing the unconscious man.
It had only been a few minutes. The man finally could not take it anymore and opened his eyes.
When the man saw the group of people standing in front of him, he jolted awake and was a bit confused. He immediately asked, "Who are you?"
Lindsey was baffled by his reaction. ‘They don’t know each other? Or was it Arthur’s plan all along to put up this act?’
Seeing that Lindsey was suspicious, Arthur raised his eyebrows. Arthur’s subordinate immediately received the signal and jabbed the man somewhere that made him squeal like a pig.
"Who sent you here?" Arthur asked in English. He looked cold and unaffected by the miserable state of the man in front of him.
Large beads of sweat rolled down the man's forehead. His teeth were chattering as he looked at Arthur like he was looking at a devil. He was so frightened that he could not speak.
Arthur changed his posture and still looked unbothered, but his pair of light brown eyes looked stern. "You don’t wanna tell me, huh? Then it's no use to keep you around."
His voice was light and airy, so much so that the people present took a few seconds to react to what he meant. The man almost peed his pants at that moment. He knew that this handsome man in front of him was certainly not joking.
However, when the man thought of his master, he hesitated.
Telling or not telling would both kill him.
Arthur saw his hesitation and stepped forward, then touched the man’s face and lifted his chin without regard for the dirt and blood all over his face.
"Tsk tsk." Arthur shook his head. "He’s so ugly and won’t even tell the truth. Why keep him?"
This was the first time Lindsey saw another man calling others ugly so bluntly, and because that person was ugly, he was deemed useless. Arthur’s tone was so nonchalant that he sounded like he was talking about the weather, but his subordinate that was holding the man received the instructions.
A short dagger with a wide blade magically appeared in the subordinate’s hand.
"Why did Ann ask you to impersonate a driver to kidnap me? Where were you taking me?" Lindsey coldly questioned the man.
The man did not bother replying to Lindsey. Arthur, who was standing in front of the man, said unhurriedly, "Answer her!"
Arthur was still wiping his hands. Lindsey noticed that he had already used three handkerchiefs to meticulously wipe each finger like he had been stained with some kind of virus.
This guy was definitely a germaphobe.
The man finally spoke because of the fear he had for Arthur. Even though he knew that Arthur might not let him off the hook and he might even die faster, the man still did not dare to ignore Lindsey's question.
"I don't know what Ms. Ann wants to do. I'm just following orders. As for where I was taking you to..." He pondered for a moment before he continued, "There’s a reservoir not far from here. Ms. Ann asked me to send you there."
After he finished, he saw that Arthur swept a glance at him and hurriedly said, "Everything I said is true! I swear that not a single word I said is false. I'm just an errand boy and I really don't know anything else."
His voice was trembling by the end of the sentence. Perhaps he was afraid of Arthur or the dagger against his neck. Luckily, he did not pee his pants.
After asking the man clearly, Lindsey still had some doubts and looked at Arthur. "Then why are you here?"
Arthur's light brown eyes faintly swept over her before he said, "I was just passing by."
Lindsey was stunned and thought, ‘Do you think I'm blind? Who just passes by such a desolate place with so many people? Are you organizing a field trip?’
