Key: Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean Chapter 60 Don’t Feel Like Going Home
Zayn felt like his heart was being torn open as he recalled the look in Lindsey's eyes earlier.
He stood in the rain and for the first time in his life, he felt lost.
"Lindsey!"
Lindsey heard someone calling her name, but she did not turn around.
As if she was running away from something, she buried her head in the heavy rain and kept walking forward.
She only stopped walking when a big warm hand held her arm and could no longer feel the raindrops falling over her head. It felt as if she had walked into another realm.
"Linds, why are you running away? Why didn't you answer when I called you?"
Lindsey turned around. The man in front of her had gentle eyes and was holding an umbrella in his hand, which at that moment, was held over her head.
A drop of rain mixed with her tears slipped down her cheeks as she said, "Big brother..."
Shaun Juhl looked at the pitiful girl who was drenched from head to toe. Her feet were covered in mud and her face looked blue from the cold. Her lips were pale and her lashes were covered with water droplets, which did not conceal the weakness in her eyes.
He could not hold back and pulled the girl in front of him into his arms.
"Linds, I’m always here for you."
His body was warm. He held Lindsey’s cold and stiff body in his arms as if he was holding some fragile treasure.
"Brother..." The sadness she felt at the bottom of her heart seemed to have found an outlet. Lindsey tightly grabbed Shaun's shirt as tears poured out of her eyes like the rain.
"Don’t cry, Linds. Don’t cry. I’m right here." Shaun's heart ached beyond words as he held her tighter in his arms.
The sky was very dark. Shaun used his body to shield the wind and rain behind him, trying to give the girl in his arms a little warmth.
He brought Lindsey to his car and asked, "Should I send you back to the Guggenheim mansion?"
Shaun did not actually want Lindsey to go back there, but he had to respect her opinion.
Lindsey shook her head. Her body was drenched and she felt that her head was heavy. However, she did not want to go back to the Guggenheim mansion.
"Brother, just drop me off at a hotel." Her voice trembled slightly because of the cold, which made her sound very pitiable.
Shaun's heart was in a mess. His fingers moved slightly, wanting to stroke Lindsey's head, but when he reached out, Lindsey subconsciously avoided him.
"Brother..." Lindsey bit her lip. She did not mean to avoid him, but she subconsciously dodged when she saw his hand reaching over.
The delight he had earlier dissipated. He felt a trace of bitterness in his heart and said something trying to comfort her and perhaps himself. "It's okay, I just wanted to touch your head."
The hug earlier was not great, but Shaun still felt a little nostalgic.
In the end, Shaun followed Lindsey’s wishes and found her a hotel nearby. He was silent the entire way and did not ask Lindsey why she was in such a mess, so Lindsey quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
However, before they arrived at the hotel, Lindsey passed out.
Shaun thought that Lindsey had fallen asleep because she was too tired. He looked over and found her curled up on the seat with an abnormal flush on her face that was in stark contrast with her paleness from earlier.
He then turned the car in a different direction and drove straight to the hospital.
Lindsey was having a fever, so Shaun was worried and carried her to get checked up. In the middle of which Lindsey woke up several times in a daze.
In the end, the nurse gave Lindsey an IV drip and she fell into a deep sleep.
Quentin did not dare to breathe loudly for fear that Zayn would question him.
He also got to know that Lindsey was Zayn’s wife just yesterday. Their legal marriage had somehow turned into a secretive relationship.
From his point of view as a third-party observer, Ms. Juhl was not at fault. It was all that vixen, Jenny Lenig’s fault. The President was blinded by Jenny and Quentin felt that he had the responsibility to reveal the truth to him.
However, if the President was not willing to see the truth...
"Quentin." The man's low voice rang in Quentin’s ears.
Quentin’s legs subconsciously went limp as he calmed his voice and said, "Yes, sir!"
Zayn looked at him strangely and ordered, "Investigate Shaun Juhl."
"Yes, President." After saying that, Quentin was ready to turn and leave.
"Wait." Zayn suddenly uttered, freezing Quentin in his steps.
"President, is...is there anything else?"
Zayn scrutinized Quentin for a while and seemed to have seen through everything, which forced Quentin to avert his gaze.
"Nothing. Go ahead." Zayn said with great mercy.
......
When Shaun brought Lindsey home, it was around 5:00 am.
He was unaware that his apartment had been visited by several uninvited guests, who did not find them and quietly retreated without leaving a trace.
