The three men darted towards a hidden corner of this floor, where there was another elevator that went straight to the parking lot. There were also no surveillance cameras here.
The man had already thought of an escape plan for himself, but the thought that he was so close to getting Lindsey made him bitter.
However, when he heard the faint sound of sirens from outside, that bitterness immediately dissipated.
The man had just walked to the elevator door when he heard the sirens. He subconsciously glanced back and immediately broke out in a cold sweat. "Why would the police be here?"
His two subordinates also looked confused. One of them said with uncertainty, "Maybe Zayn Guggenheim called the police when he found that she’s missing."
“Bullsh*t! Zayn Guggenheim is much faster than the police when it comes to finding someone. Why would he need to call the police?” He immediately slapped the other man across the face as he said with anger and frustration.
The man probably did not want to show his panic in front of his subordinates, so he looked extraordinarily calm.
The person who was hit lowered his head in silence. A flash of resentment passed under his eyes.
"Let’s go first." The man forced himself to calm down. He pressed the button to the elevator and stepped inside.
The man had never been caught with anything he did all this time, so naturally, he had his own ways. There was no surveillance camera here, so he went straight to the parking lot, where his car was parked in a concealed place.
When it came down to it, as long as he hid in the car until Zayn's people and the police were gone, no one would be able to find him.
Just as the elevator was slowly descending, Zayn stepped out of another elevator on the 23rd floor.
Zayn first scanned the entire floor, then the well-trained people behind him went forward to swipe the door of each hotel suite one by one with the master keycard that they got earlier.
For a moment, a few of the rooms that had guests inside cursed at them, but Zayn did not care about these. He just listened to Soren's voice coming from his headset, "Ann has been talking to her plastic surgeon all day today and didn't leave the hospital, but that old bastard Wagner went over this afternoon to book a room then found an excuse to slip away. Just now, we contacted the police and told him that he went to the hotel this afternoon...as for Arthur, he appeared only after the seminar was over and waited until Madam left before he went out. He just left the hotel."
Soren then paused for a moment and continued, "No wait, he didn’t leave. He just came back to the hotel."
Zayn’s eyes turned cold as he said in a low voice, "Got it."
Soren naturally knew what to do.
"President!" A voice suddenly came from behind him. Zayn turned his head only to see one of the people he brought up did not check the hotel rooms with the others. He even held a black purse and a white phone.
Zayn remembered clearly that before this seminar began, Quentin took a picture of Lindsey. She looked so bored and had this bag by her side.
He took the phone over and tried to turn it on, but it did not light up. It was probably destroyed by whoever took her.
His lips were pressed tighter and his tone unconsciously became more anxious. "What’s the situation on the 24th floor?"
"We’re still searching." They basically came up at the same time. The 23rd, 24th, and 25th floors were all being searched by their people. Zayn closed his eyes and suddenly thought of something, then tapped on his headset. "That old bastard Wagner, which floor did he book a room on?"
Although it was just an outline, Lindsey was certain that it was Zayn.
Zayn noticed Lindsey’s flinch when he kicked the door open. She was probably terrified. Moreover, her messy hair and disheveled clothes, as well as her tears, made his repressed anger surge into a raging fire.
Luckily, Lindsey's voice pulled him back to his senses.
"Zayn!" Lindsey shouted, then asked with uncertainty, "Is that you?"
Her voice was soft and gentle with a little nasal tone. It sounded so pitiful, but also very alluring.
Zayn snapped back to his senses and quickly closed the door behind him. He then went forward to pull Lindsey into his arms. “It’s me.”
He did not notice how careful he was in his movements and the heartache in his eyes oozed out. He kissed Lindsey on the forehead and asked, “How are you feeling? Any discomfort?”
When Lindsey heard that it was really him, her heartstrings that had been taut instantly relaxed, and the sliver of clarity that she was trying to maintain seemed to disappear as she did not need it anymore.
Lindsey shook her head, which made her forehead rub against Zayn's chest, making Zayn feel a tingling sensation.
"I'm fine," Lindsey said as she leaned on Zayn. Her breath was warm and her skin was also warmer than his. Her hot breath warmed up Zayn's neck.
