Zayn rubbed his eyebrows and suddenly asked, "Do you...still resent me?"

Lindsey felt that Zayn was a little strange today, but she still shook her head.

Opposite her, Zayn just uttered a soft "oh", but Lindsey could not tell whether it was from relief or regret.

"Zayn, what's wrong with you?" Lindsey finally could not hold back and asked him. She felt that what Zayn said was too abnormal.

However, the man in front of her shook his head. "Nothing." He was afraid that Lindsey would not believe him and added, “Just felt a little reminiscent...being back here.”

Lindsey stopped probing because she felt the same way and did not want this man to know about it.

Zayn probably realized that he was being a little too emotional, so he stopped talking. When he found out that Lindsey took a cab over here, he offered to send her home, but Lindsey refused. In the end, he did not insist and hailed a cab for her, then watched as she left this place.

It seemed that both of them had really let go of the past.

On the way back, Lindsey thought about what Zayn said earlier and somehow felt a little uneasy.

It was a weird feeling and she did not know why. She analyzed Zayn’s words carefully, but in the end, except for the hidden concern that she felt in his words, there was nothing else.

‘I guess I'm just overthinking it,’ Lindsey thought.

The only thing that she should be worried about now was the situation in Hemera.

Lindsey did not mean to make things difficult for herself. She knew that Shaun would not be unable to withstand the pressure from the executives and board of directors of Hemera and Evans Corporation. He would soon have to compromise and let the police intervene. As the prime suspect of this case, Lindsey would probably be asked to go to the police station.

They must find a way to either catch this snake as soon as possible or find out who was the mastermind behind this.

This was not a simple task.

It was a Monday, but Lindsey had no intention of going to Hemera. She just wanted to play hooky to avoid seeing those people. When she got home, she saw an unexpected guest in the living room.

"Mr. Arthur?" Lindsey was a little surprised. ‘Why is he here again?’

Arthur was holding a cup of tea at the tip of his nose and sniffing it slightly. When he heard the voice, he turned back and saw that it was Lindsey. He smiled, showing off his pearly whites, and said, "Lindsey, I told you to just call me Arthur."

Lindsey automatically ignored what he said as she somehow felt that calling him by his first name would make them seem too intimate. She stayed on the topic. "Why are you in my house?"

"Oh, right..." Arthur put down the cup of tea in his hand and was ready to tell her the full story, but before he could say anything, he was interrupted by Mrs. Wendy, who suddenly appeared.

With a cane in her hand, Mrs. Wendy slowly walked out of her bedroom. Lindsey immediately could not care less about Arthur and rushed over to Mrs. Wendy. "What's going on?"

Lindsey’s gaze landed on Mrs. Wendy’s foot that was wrapped up like a burrito. Lindsey's eyes instantly widened and were filled with worry.

Mrs. Wendy’s free hand was holding Lindsey's arm. She smiled and said, "I’m fine. It’s nothing serious. I’m just old and my bones are brittle. I accidentally fell at the entrance earlier. The doctor said it’ll heal soon enough."

Lindsey came out and saw the two of them conversing. That was when she realized that she had been ignoring Arthur's presence the whole time.

She had several boxes of medicine in her hand, some were oral and some were topical. It was pretty professional and complete, so Lindsey felt more at ease.

Lindsey turned to look at Arthur and looked serious as she said, "Thanks for helping us today."

Arthur took a sip of the tea and liked its intense flavor. "You’re welcome, Lindsey."

This man's elegance and courtesy seemed to be innate. Even when he spoke, the smile on his face was extraordinarily poised.

The two of them had nothing to talk about. Lindsey was thinking about how she should send him away but felt that it was not appropriate for her to treat Arthur like this. After all, he had helped Mrs. Wendy.

Lindsey was torn, but before she could make a decision, Arthur spoke in a clear and soothing voice, "I heard that there was a problem with the project?"

Mrs. Wendy knew that Arthur had invested in Shaun's company. When she heard that Arthur was asking Lindsey about work, she subconsciously stood up to give them some privacy. "You guys can chat. I was making a stew earlier in the kitchen, so I'll go check it out."

Lindsey stood up as well. "I'll walk you over."

As she said that, she reached out to hold Mrs. Wendy’s arm that was not holding the cane. Mrs. Wendy did not refuse her help, so Lindsey walked her to the kitchen before she came back.

"Yes, it seems that I’m involved in it as well." Lindsey smiled at Arthur and revealed her straight teeth. It was just a mechanical polite smile, but when Arthur saw it, she just seemed unexpectedly bright. It was just that her eyes lacked some warmth.
