In the evening, someone came to Lindsey's ward.
Yvette went to inquire about Lindsey’s discharge and had not yet returned. When there was a knock on the door, Lindsey was sitting by the window watching the sunset.
She did not turn around and looked at the scenery outside unblinkingly.
The person at the door had a kind of solemn chivalrous etiquette. After knocking three times and getting no response, he gently reached out and pushed open the door to the ward that was ajar.
"Lindsey." A gentle, melodious male voice came from behind her.
Lindsey blinked and watched as the sun finally went below the horizon before slowly turning her head.
Arthur was holding a bouquet of white lilies and placed them at the bedside table. The delicate flowers still had dew drops on them and looked as if they would break into pieces when the wind blew.
Lindsey's eyes fell on the bouquet and froze for a moment before returning to her senses. She then pulled out a polite smile.
"Have a seat." She gestured to the fabric sofa near the window of the ward.
Arthur looked at her side profile that was rapidly wilting after just a few days and felt a mixture of complex emotions in his heart, but his face was still gentle and accommodating.
He sat down not far away from Lindsey and maintained a distance at which he could get up and help Lindsey whenever she needed it without her feeling oppressed.
"How are you feeling? Better?" Arthur asked softly. He swept a glance at Lindsey’s eyes that lingered on the scenery outside and his hand unconsciously clenched tighter.
Lindsey nodded but did not look at him. She looked slightly lost in thought. "Mm, much better."
She was not curious as to why Arthur had come, nor did she intend to talk much. No matter who came, she did not care.
Silence spread through the air, and they just sat quietly like that for a while until Yvette suddenly pushed open the door and came in. Seeing that Arthur was there, she visibly froze for a moment before reacting and greeted him. "Mr. Evans, you're here again!"
She said again.
Arthur smiled and stood up. "Yeah, I just dropped by to see Lindsey. I'll leave first."
After saying that, he said to Lindsey, "Are you getting discharged soon? Take care of your health. I’ll visit you again someday."
He came and left in just five minutes with a gentle and proper demeanor and did not mention a word about Zayn and the fire, nor did he say anything to comfort her. It was just like a silent companionship, telling Lindsey that he would always be there for her.
Yvette took the bouquet of lilies on the bedside table and sniffed it, then said to Lindsey, “The doctor said that you just need to be more careful and it’s fine to recuperate at home.”
Lindsey did not have much of a reaction. She was always lost in thought and Yvette was already used to it after a while.
Yvette just sighed in her heart for the millionth time. She rubbed her brow and followed Lindsey to look out at the endless sky.
At the same time in Denarius.
Quentin abruptly interrupted him and his eyes were ruthless. "Shut the f*ck up!" He once again swept over everyone present and said word by word in a loud and clear voice, "It’s not up to you clowns to decide where Denarius is headed to and what we’re doing next, or even how to deal with the President’s shares. If I f*cking find out that any of you do something against the company, I’ll make sure you’ll pay the price if it’s the last thing I do!”
The secretary behind him did not pull him back and watched as Quentin completely offended all the board of directors in front of him.
Quentin really went all out this time. In the future, these people would inevitably make things difficult for him.
However, Quentin was not the least bit afraid. He had a kind of reckless madness under his eyes. He was stubborn and harsh, which surprisingly managed to scare off these power-hungry directors.
"Meeting adjourned!" Finally, Quentin spat out two words to the crowd.
In the past two days, Denarius' stock fell so much that it hit its limit down once news of Zayn's death was leaked. Quentin only managed to stop the decline with the help of Shaun and Callum.
Quentin was not himself the past three days. Every part of his body seemed so foreign. He could only mechanically and desperately do everything that he could and his emotions seemed to have fallen into hibernation. His emotional self was still stuck in the sweet dreams about the past and was reluctant to wake up. Thus, he was only functioning on reason alone.
He did not dare to let himself get tired and did not dare to let himself get sad because he did not have the time to.
The only vulnerability he showed was when he visited Dezi. After that, in the eyes of Denarius’ employee, Quentin turned into a person who would no longer smile.
While he was desperately trying to pull Denarius back from collapsing, this group of trash was secretly thinking about how to negotiate with other corporations for a merger while making the most profit.
They were just too ambitious!
