At night, Lindsey finally fell asleep, but she was awakened by the sudden ringing of her phone.

It had been a whole week since the funeral. However, the gloomy sky that day still seemed to hang over everyone's mind.

Lindsey had formally resigned from her job at Hemera. Every day, she would just go to Denarius and come home in the evening, as if her life was no different from before.

However, it seemed that that emptiness in her heart could no longer be filled and that emptiness seemed to be more obvious when no one was around her late at night.

Probably because she was so tired during this period, Lindsey fell asleep for the first time without tossing and turning until late at night. The night light at the bedside table illuminated her frowning brows in her sleep. She looked so fragile, but she was still a stunner.

When her phone rang, Lindsey abruptly woke up from her sleep, and the uneventful dream gave her the illusion that reality and her dream overlapped when she first woke up.

However, her ringtone gradually grew louder and pulled her out from her daze. Lindsey sat up with her palms propped up on the bed and she fumbled for the vibrating phone.

The caller ID was an unknown international number.

Lindsey settled her mind and was still hesitating whether she should pick up the call when the phone abruptly stopped ringing.

The phone was not answered for a long time so it was automatically disconnected.

Lindsey looked at the time. It was 1:00 am.

She pressed her constantly throbbing eyebrows and thought that it was some sort of spam call. Just as she was about to put the phone down, the phone in her hand rang again.

"Hello." Lindsey pressed the answer button. Her voice was raspy with sleep as she put the phone to her ear.

On the other side of the call was a voice that Lindsey was very familiar with.

"Lindsey, it's me." Ginny's voice rang in Lindsey's ears again after a few months from the other side of the ocean.

Ginny had not been in contact with her since she left Atlantic City, so when she received her call, Lindsey was stunned for a second before she asked, "Ginny? Are you back?"

A light laugh came from over the phone, seemingly amused by Lindsey's question. Only after a while did she hear Ginny say helplessly, "Of course not! I'm calling to tell you that I've settled down here."

Lindsey took a few seconds to realize what Ginny meant by "settled down" and thought of something. She asked in disbelief, "What about Terence?"

Ginny immediately answered, "He's back. Jared Moeller has offended many people and has been assassinated."

In a short span of one year, Jared Moeller went from being in a position of power to having nothing, then finally losing his life. All of this only happened within one year. Instead, Terence Moeller, whom everyone assumed was dead, was just waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike and became the ultimate winner.

A man’s voice vaguely sounded from the other end of the call asking who Ginny was talking to. Ginny said in a rarely heard flirtatious voice when she said it was Lindsey.

Lindsey suddenly felt a ridiculous sense of hope. ‘How great would it be if Zayn didn’t die and could reappear one day?’

However, this was a fleeting thought, because no one knew better than Lindsey that the chances of Zayn escaping that explosion were smaller than an asteroid hitting Earth.

"Then congratulations for finally making it through all those hardships!" After returning to her senses, Lindsey sincerely lamented.

The next morning, Lindsey opened the door of her room with huge dark circles under her eyes. Dezi, who had just woken up, was dragging his slippers just as Mrs. Wendy brought out breakfast from the kitchen.

Lindsey hurriedly got him dressed and patted his head. "Go on, wake Sieben up for breakfast."

Life seemed to have gone back to the old days.

After Lindsey washed up and prepared the outfit she was going to wear today. Dezi, who went upstairs to wake Sieben up, came down alone.

"Where’s Sieben?" Lindsey looked behind him, but there was no one there.

Although Sieben's reaction at the police station that day was drastic, she had been very well-behaved for the past few days. She only insisted on not allowing Soren's ashes to be buried and she was unwilling to move downstairs from their apartment. Aside from that, Sieben was normal.

Mrs. Wendy would call Sieben over for three meals a day. Sometimes, she would stay there alone for a whole day. Besides being silent and keeping a straight face, nothing was wrong.

Then again, who was not silent during this time?

Life forced everyone to move forward, whether it was in laughter or silence.

"Sieben didn’t open the door." Dezi grabbed the hem of his shirt and blinked his eyes, looking a little uneasy.

Zayn's sudden passing seemed to have induced uneasiness in this child again. Most of the time, he would do his own thing and would interact less with his classmates and teachers. He also liked to cling to Lindsey more lately.

"You can eat first." Lindsey took Dezi's hand and led him to the dining table. She tousled his soft hair, turned around, and pushed the door open to go upstairs.
