Chapter 7 

Ding! Another notification sounded, accompanied by a photo- 

It was Ivan, smiling as he pressed his face against the woman’s belly. 

At that moment, Linda’s disgust reached its peak. 

She turned off her phone. 

The next day, Linda was out of her blood treatment medication, so she went to the hospital alone to pick it up. 

As she approached the hospital entrance, she came face–to–face with Katherine and Ivan. 

“Mrs. Martin, what a coincidence! Are you here at the hospital too?” 

Katherine greeted her warmly, her smile sweet and inviting. 

Ivan instantly let go of Katherine, hurrying over to Linda’s side and explaining in a rush, “I came here to pick up your blood treatment medication. I just happened to run into her, and seeing her alone, I thought I’d help her out.” 

A hint of mockery flashed in Linda’s eyes as she pretended to know nothing and asked, “Miss, are you feeling unwell?” 

Katherine seemed pleased with the question, as if it was exactly what she wanted. 

Ivan shot her a warning glance, but she ignored him, gently rubbing her belly with a look of happiness. “Oh, no, I’m not unwell. I’m just here for a prenatal checkup since I’m pregnant.‘ 

Linda watched her silently, her gaze as calm as a still lake. 

The atmosphere grew unnervingly quiet, and Ivan’s palms began to sweat, the dampness seeping through his shirt and onto her arm. 

Suddenly, Linda smiled and said without emotion, “Congratulations.” 

As Katherine’s face fell in disappointment and Ivan breathed a sigh of relief, Linda spoke

again- 

“Where’s the baby’s father? Why didn’t he come?” 

Linda remained composed, while Katherine froze, instinctively glancing at Ivan. 

Ivan ignored Katherine entirely, instead offering Linda a flattering smile. “We’re here to get 

your medication, no need to worry about irrelevant people. Her boyfriend’s probably busy 

with work.” 

With that, Ivan shot Katherine a dark look. 

Just moments ago, Katherine had been proudly cradling her belly, but now her face turned 

pale as she forced herself to agree. “Mr. Martin is right… my boyfriend is busy with work.” 

Their poor acting bored Linda. 

She took a step forward, and Ivan quickly followed as if pardoned. 

After getting her medication, Ivan insisted on driving Linda home. 

The entire ride, Linda remained silent. 

Ivan assumed she was thinking about the child they had lost, so once they were back home, 

he pulled her into his arms and gently comforted her. 

“Linda, you don’t have to envy anyone else’s child. Your health is improving, and maybe 

one day, we’ll have a child of our own.” 

“Even if we don’t, it’s okay. I love you, and having you is enough.” 

Linda turned her face away, calmly looking out at the darkened sky outside the window. 

“Hmm, as long as you love me.” 

She thought- 

If you love me, then my leaving will have meaning. 

In the following days, Iván claimed he had business trips and didn’t return home.
