“Is this Ms. Spencer?”

“It is.”

“Is James your husband?”

“Yes, what happened to him?”

“He had a car accident and was sent to the First Hospital by ambulance…”

For a moment, Heather felt like her mind went blank.

The phone slipped from her hand, but she didn’t bother to pick it up. She immediately ran to the roadside to hail a taxi.

“Driver, to the First Hospital!”

At the emergency room door, Heather saw Doctor Smith.

“How is James?”

“Mr. Spencer lost a lot of blood and is waiting for a matching blood type…”

“Use my blood! My blood type matches his.”

“No, Miss Hardin, your health condition isn't suitable for donating blood…”

“Doctor Smith, please, I beg you!”

She nearly knelt down in front of Doctor Smith.

“I don’t have much time left to live, but I can’t let him die. Please, Doctor Smith, save him…”

Doctor Smith could only agree.

Having been her attending doctor for seven years, he had some understanding of her character.

In the blood transfusion room, Heather watched as the syringe repeatedly drew her dark red blood.

She felt dizzy but, for the first time, her heart was at peace.

“Miss Hardin, if you feel unwell, tell me immediately. Your body isn’t in good condition, don’t overdo it…”

“Doctor Smith, I can continue.”

She didn’t stop until enough blood had been drawn for James. She then called a halt and stood up, her steps unsteady as she almost fell.

Doctor Smith was both angry and distressed.

“Miss Hardin, you really don’t take your own body seriously…”

“Doctor Smith, please go save him. I beg you.”

Heather watched Doctor Smith take her blood to the emergency room before she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

She was so tired, and as she leaned against the wall, she wanted to squat down and rest for a while, but instead, she collapsed to the floor.

Just before falling into unconsciousness, she saw Helen arrive at the hospital.

Heather thought she would die like this, but she didn’t. She opened her eyes and found herself lying on a hospital bed.

She immediately grabbed a nurse and asked, “How is James?”
