Linda and Sam stood frozen in disbelief. “Houston… where did he get that kind of money?” Sam finally managed.

Rose calmly explained, “It was a gift from his elders.”

Ethan’s expression shifted—gleaming with malicious amusement. “Of course,” he muttered with a scoff. “No way a sales agent has that kind of cash. Just another spoiled brat living off grandpa’s money.”

His words dripped with disdain.

After finalizing the purchase, Houston didn’t even glance at Vivian’s family. He grabbed Rose’s hand and strode out of the showroom with his usual unshakable pride.

Outside, as they stepped into the sun, Sam turned to Houston, hesitant. “Son, your mother and I have nothing urgent today. We’ll walk home. You and Rose go do what you need—don’t worry about us.”

Houston was about to insist on driving them when he suddenly noticed a sharp flash in the distance. His face turned cold in an instant.

“Alright then, please be careful on the way,” he said.

Without another word, he shoved a confused Rose into the car, started the engine, and peeled away.

Sam waved frantically in the distance, worried. “Slow down, Houston! Be careful!”

The Mercedes tore down the road like a beast unchained. Houston soon cornered a Jeep into a narrow alley and brought the chase to a halt. He stormed out, fury radiating off him in waves, and yanked the driver out of the Jeep.

“Hand over the camera,” he barked.

“Camera? What camera?” The man held up his arms, pretending to be clueless.

Houston raised a fist—rage already flaring in his eyes. But the thought of Rose waiting in the car steadied him. With visible restraint, he lowered his hand, rifled through the man’s pockets, and pulled out a phone.

On it were photos—candid shots of Rose.

His fury ignited. He kicked the man hard in the gut.

“Who told you to take pictures of my wife?” His voice thundered.

“I-I’m a street photographer! I swear! No harm meant—I just thought she looked really pure and beautiful, that’s all!” the man stammered.

Houston grabbed him by the collar. His gaze was bloodshot, his voice low and menacing. “Not talking, huh?”

He turned back to the car, opened the door, and pulled out Rose. Gently, he turned her around.

“Don’t look back,” he murmured into her ear.

She nodded, obedient.

Houston picked up a thick stick from the ground and brought it crashing down on the man’s head.

“Agh!” the man screamed in pain.

Houston wasn’t done. “Who sent you?!”

“N-no one! I swear!” the man cried.

“You want to die?” Houston’s boot landed hard on his ribs.

The man hit the ground, blood flowing from his scalp.
