Chapter Twenty Three
When Tanzeen sees Sahaan, she winks at her. After waving her fingers at Sahaan, she leaves the house.
Sahaan looks out again. The heavy rain has stopped and the pitter patter can be heard throughout the house.
Sahaan sprints into her grandmother’s room, thinking Tanzeen took something without permission. But she calms down seeing her grandmother peacefully sitting on her chair, reciting silent prayers. Grandmother opens her eyes, sensing someone in the room. She motions for Sahaan to sit with her.
"Grandma, I saw Tanzeen leaving your room. Is everything okay? Did she do something?” She worriedly asks her grandmother. Her grandmother smiles at how naive her granddaughter is.
"Why are you so tense, my love? She is gone for good! I've done my work," She smiles even wider.
"But grandma! Tomorrow is the wedding…? Who will Ahmed marry if she is gone? Tomorrow is his wedding!” She asks with shock laced in her voice.
Her grandmother just stares at her in wonder. How can she worry about someone who added misery to her life? Ahmed did nothing, but made her miserable yet she’s worried about him.
"Don’t worry about that. I have already planned everything. And please get me a cup of tea,” She pats Sahaan’s head. Sahaan nods and turns to leave the room when they hear a loud noise from the outside.
"SAHAAN! Get me a cup of tea! This cold is killing me!" Hammad continuous shouting her name.
Sahaan’s grandmother chuckles at their antics, while Sahaan only smiles and shakes her head, leaving the room.
