Chapter Thirty Eight

"Do you believe me now? What was my daughter's mistake that you and your mother started punishing her from day one? That idiot girl! How many times did I tell her not to love someone that would end up hurting her, but she never listens." Saira whispers to Ahmed. He’s looking down, head bowed in shame.

"I’ve had enough! I'm not letting my sister stay here even for a minute now! As soon as she wakes up, I'm taking her back home with me. Aunt, you’re coming with us too." Hammad holds Saira’s shoulder.

Upon hearing his words, Ahmed’s head jerks up, stunned.

"No! You can't take her away, Hammad. No one gave you that right! She’s my wife!" Ahmed yells in anger.

Hammad laughs humorlessly.

"What wife, Ahmed? The two of you were betrothed to each other since childhood, right? But you broke your promise and were ready to marry another girl. News flash, Ahmed, you cheated on her!" Hammad yells in the same tone.

"She is my wife. Dammit! You have no right in this matter." Ahmed repeats his words again and again, not having anything else to defend himself.

“I’m giving you that right! Take her away. She has to stay away from all this chaos. And Hammad, you don’t need any right to take her away! You are her brother, therefore you have more rights than anyone present here, except her mother." Their grandmother says to Hammad softly.

Ahmed looks at his beloved grandmother in shock.
