When Onyx woke up, Shannon was the only person in the ward. She sat on the couch with her back to him. Her presence carried an unfamiliar air that was both human and demon.

His body tensed in alarm and assumed a defensive posture. That was when he heard Tanger's proud voice coming from the tablet in her hands.

Shannon smiled lightly and praised him, "Not bad. As expected of you."

As Tanger shouted non-stop, Onyx seemed used to his antics. His sharp gaze softened a little, though his expression remained cool and serious.

With that one sentence, Tanger immediately shut up and started whimpering about how worried he'd been.

Onyx calmly reassured him and promised multiple times he'd stay in the ward until Tanger arrived. Only then did the latter reluctantly end the call.
