Shannon stared at the newly decorated courtyard and was stunned for just a second. Then, she met Kai's gaze and raised an eyebrow.

Without asking questions, she walked forward and took a seat at the table.

She didn't believe a single dinner could rekindle Benjamin's feelings for her, especially not in his current state. But since this was Kai's heartfelt effort, she wasn't about to reject it.

Seeing Shannon take her seat without hesitation, Kai would have thought she'd known about her plan if he hadn't witnessed her brief moment of surprise.

Yet, her reaction confirmed he'd done a great job.

Satisfied after seeing the female lead in place, Kai turned his bright-eyed gaze toward Benjamin, who was utterly stunned.

Kai panicked. Just as he was about to stop Benjamin, Shannon said, "It's fine. I can eat alone."

There was no obvious emotion in her tone. Though being rejected for dinner stung her a little, she wasn't upset at Benjamin, and there was definitely no sorrow.

Even so, she lightly added, "It's not like Benjamin and I had many opportunities to eat together anyway."
