Dexter felt his breath catch slightly, his heart pounding uncontrollably—that familiar rush he always experienced when laying eyes on his prey.
This time, he felt his excitement mixed in with something else, something colder and unfamiliar.
It was fear.
"Shannon Jensen," he enunciated, ignoring the oppressive weight this woman's presence brought crashing down on him.
He stretched his lips into a twisted smile, trying to make himself look more like the unhinged predator he was known to be.
"Do you know who I am?" he asked.
Every time he killed, his eyes would gleam with a certain light. When his victims saw that look in his eyes, they were always filled with terror and dread, especially the young women.
Just meeting his gaze was enough to make their legs give out in fear.
He thought Shannon, barely 20, would be the same, yet she simply glanced at him, indifferent and calm. It carried a kind of pressure that didn't belong to someone her age.
It wasn't so much that she was looking at him, but more like seeing through him, past the surface, straight into the soul that inhabited his body.
At that moment, Dexter felt like his soul had been bound.
"W-What are you trying to do to me?" His voice trembled out of his control.
However, Shannon couldn't bother to entertain him. He was shrouded in karmic debts to the point where it was uncomfortable to look at him.
If not for the thought of using him as a case study to enrich today's seminar, Shannon would've already sent him straight to hell to get a taste of eternal suffering.
She stepped past Dexter without sparing him another glance and walked into the room. Her brows furrowed slightly as she glanced at the bomb on the floor.
The agent beside it spoke up. "We have to wait for the official disposal team to arrive to handle the bomb, but I've already added a barrier around it. Even if it goes off, it won't cause any damage."
Shannon nodded, but upon some thought, she said, "I'll let Peanut try cutting the internal wires directly."
The man blinked, confused. Peanut?
Before he could ask, Shannon pulled out a talisman. As soon as the charm activated, a gust of ghostly wind swept through the room.
