Shannon tracked Scarsore's scent and followed its trail deep into the rest. The deeper she went, the more fragmented the scent became and scattered in multiple directions.

She understood that this was Scarsore's cover-up. Before the four mystical beasts emerged, Shannon had taken time to study them.

Scarsore was one of the ancient mystical beasts. It was a creature with a human face and an ape-like body with a white head and red feet.

Shannon had seen Scarsore once. Now, her goal was to capture it. The lives of Celestria's soldiers were not toys for these monsters.

"It's just a monkey. I've caught worse."

She ordered her elite soldiers to remain nearby in ready, and asked some to collect small stones for her.

By this point, her troops had seen firsthand the two battles she'd commanded and had full confidence in her. Though her request seemed off, they moved swiftly and soon returned with a pile of pebbles.

Shannon picked out the smallest pebbles from the lot and casually arranged them in a clearing. Then, she knelt and drew a tracing array around the circle of stones.

Within the array, she swiftly drew several sigils, none of which the soldiers could understand. They assumed she was creating another one of her unique anti-enemy arrays as usual.

But then, she pulled out a talisman.

With one hand, she formed a mudra. Her fingers traced the surface of the talisman and drew something out from within.

No one could see it, but she extracted Scarsore's presence. It was gathered earlier from a wounded soldier who'd been attacked by the beast.

She channeled the presence straight into the heart of the array. As her mudras changed rapidly and spiritual energy surged, she gave a sharp command.
