"It's not time to get off work yet, so traffic shouldn't be so bad. Why are we caught in a jam?" the police officer driving muttered.

Calvin leaned forward to see what was happening in front. He didn't want to waste time there, so he said, "Let's take another road."

He subconsciously wanted to tell the driver to take a left turn, but he suddenly recalled what Shannon had said to him. "If you ever feel like things aren't going your way recently, remember to take a right turn."

For some reason, he found himself saying, "Take the alley on the right."

The driver was a little confused. "Wouldn't it be faster to go left?"

They'd have to make a bigger round if they took a right turn.

Calvin said impatiently, "Just do as I say. Stop wasting time arguing with me."

The driver shrugged and did as told. The other car carrying the evidence team followed them in taking a right turn. Shortly after they'd made the turn, they heard a scream come from behind.

Calvin thought something had happened and had the driver stop. Then, he had one of his subordinates check on the situation. Patrolling the area wasn't part of their job scope, but they couldn't act like they hadn't noticed anything now that something had gone wrong.

Soon, the subordinate came running back. He explained, "A billboard came crashing down on the other road. Nobody was harmed, though, so that's good. I've already asked the police patrolling the area to handle the situation."

He clutched his chest, looking scared yet relieved. "It's good that we didn't take that road. Judging from the spot where the billboard crashed, it would've landed right on us if we'd turned there. If our luck was bad enough, the other car would've been hit, too."

He was merely glad to have escaped death, but Calvin was secretly surprised. He glanced in the direction of the commotion and wondered whether it was just a coincidence. But were there really that many coincidences in life?
