Benji Gold instantly straightened up and lifted its tiny paper hands. It motioned zipping its lips and promised to obediently make sure not to say a word.

Satisfied, Benjamin left both little paper figures on guard duty and stepped out of the room.

After reaching the guest wing on the second floor, he took out his phone and noticed a series of missed calls and unread messages. After a moment's silence, he dialed back.

Hector's voice on the other end sounded dangerous. "Where's Shannon?"

Benjamin replied, "She's asleep."

There was a sharp gasp from Hector, who raised his voice to ask. "Is she next to you?"

Benjamin frowned and felt slightly puzzled. "Hector, what's going on in your mind?"

Hector responded with an incredulous laughter. "You blatantly brought my sister home to sleep at your place, and you're asking what I'm thinking? What are you thinking?"

Shannon had the Jensen residence, and it wasn't even that far away. Benjamin had no right to bring her back to his place. If Hector weren't out of town, he might've stormed to the Cooper residence.

Hearing the growing agitation in Hector's voice, Benjamin decided to skip any further arguments and simply explained, "She got hurt, and her spiritual energy was completely drained."

This was enough to calm Hector on the other end of the line. Benjamin continued, "Staying here will help her recover faster."

Hector was silent for a moment as he found the words oddly familiar. While he didn't like the idea, he knew Benjamin wouldn't lie about such things. Perhaps there really was something uniquely compatible about them.
