Chapter 101 

How did this suddenly turn into a marriage? Did Xavier even love Lily? 

But starting a family has always been an inevitable step in life. 

Two years ago, when Edith started pushing him to get married, he had no intention of doing so. But as the pressure mounted and the situation became unbearable, he remembered the childhood engagement arranged long ago. 

When he went to propose, willing to honor the marriage agreement, it wasn’t the first time he’d met Lily 

He had already done his research on her. She was obedient, always respecting her parents‘ wishes, even if they weren’t particularly responsible. He needed a wife like that. 

He didn’t dislike Lily. In fact, he had even found himself somewhat attracted to her looks and figure when they first met. 

After two years of manage, living together had been smooth sailing. That confirmed his initial choice hadn’t been wrong

Xavier suddenly found himself looking forward to returning to the way things used to be coming home after work to find her preparing a meal, running his bath, and personally ironing his clothes. 

The more he looked forward to it, the slower time seemed to move. He reviewed countless documents, checking his watch repeatedly until it was finally 6:00 pm 

Then, Xavier drove home and parked in front of the villa. As he walked toward the house, the lights in the living room were on. 

He bent down to change his shoes just as hurried footsteps approached. Lily, as always, came over to take his cost and assist with his “You’re back, Mr. Fulton?” Emma, wearing a floral apron that Lily used to wear, greeted him. 

She took Xavier’s briefcase and asked, “Dinner’s ready. Would you like to bathe first or eat?” 

Xavier paused briefly, then placed his watch in the jewelry box by the door. “Where’s Lily?” 

“She’s upstairs,” Emma replied. 

Emma was meticulous and thorough, having worked for the Fulton family for many 

ny years. Now, such tasks were no longer left to Lily Xavier unbuttoned his shirt as he made his way upstairs. “I’ll bathe first.” 

When he pushed open the door to the bedroom, Lily was working.

She had set up a small table by the bay window with a laptop and various documents spread out. Upon hearing the door open, she glanced back 

“You’re back” Her voice was neutral, neither warm nor cold. Compared to before, her smile had faded, and her enthusiasm had all but vanished.

“Mm,” Xavier responded casually before heading into the bathroom. 

Soon, running water filled the space, interrupting Lily’s thoughts. 

She was working on the renovation designs for the Glenview Villa. Every corner and detail reminded her of how she had felt two years ago when she designed this house. The joy she had once felt had now turned into equal parts sorrow.
