Xavier noticed a cold, ethereal beauty about her for the first time. 

After drying his hair and changing into fresh clothes, he realized Lily had already gone downstairs. 

Lily helped Emma set the table, only sitting down after Xavier joined them. Xavier didn’t like talking during meals, so Lily ate quietly as usual. But for some reason, the atmosphere felt lifeless to him. 

He parted his lips, about to speak when the phone on the table suddenly rang. It was Tamara calling. He set down his utensils and answered the phone. 

“What’s going on with the news online?” 

Xavier had been occupied with work all afternoon and hadn’t seen the news, but he simply guessed, “The shareholders are stirring up trouble” 

Tamara’s voice was sharp. “I don’t care about the details. Tell the Pit department to resolve it immediately!” With that, she ended the call. 

Xavier unlocked his phone and saw that the news had already gone viral and was covered by major media outlets. It had been two hours, and the PR department still hadn’t resolved the issue. 

His gaze darkened as he headed to the balcony to make a call. He called Sarah immediately. 

The call was quickly answered, and Sarah’s delighted voice came through. “Xavier!” 

“The news about the company–why hasn’t it been handled yet? His tone was icy and curting, instantly killing Sarah’s excitement. 

She had deliberately delayed addressing the issue. After all, hadn’t Lily promised to get divorced but failed to follow through? 

Sarah assumed that Lily must have seen the news and caused a scene with Xavier. Though resentment simmered inside her, Sarah kept her voice calm. 

“The PR department is already on it,” she said. “But Lawrence is intentionally manipulating the media, making the situation difficult. I’ll take care of it as soon as possible.” 

Previously, negative news about Nova Group would vanish within an hour. 

Xavier was clearly dissatisfied with her response. “You have ten more minutes. It must be resolved.” 

“L” Sarah instinctively tried to respond, but all she heard was the disconnected call’s cold, mechanical sound. 

Sarah’s delicate face twisted in frustration as she turned to the painting of intertwined rings hanging in the entryway 

Anger surged within her, and she threw the glass of water that she was holding

When Xavier returned after finishing his call, he found that Lily had already finished her meal and gone upstairs. 

Lily hadn’t eaten nach. Most of the dishes on the table were untouched. 

Xavier’s Lips were pressed tightly together. He had lost his appetite, perhaps because he had grown used to Lily’s cooking
