Chapter 106 

Every morning, by the time Xavier came downstairs, Lily had already left. Only the breakfast that Emma prepared was waiting for him.. 

These were the obvious changes–the surface–level ones. The subtler ones, though, were more noticeable in bed. 

She no longer clung to him or acted coquettish. He’d noticed the emptiness in her eyes a few times, clear and devoid of any desire. 

These small changes were starting to weigh on him, distracting him during meetings. It wasn’t until the meeting was over that Timothy walked over to 

him 

“Mr. Fulton, are you feeling alright?” 

Xavier raised his hand, frowning slightly. “I’m fine.” 

Timothy felt a shiver of unease. The good days had barely lasted, and now Xavier seemed to carry y more weight on his mind than before. 

His instinct told him it had something to do with Lily, but he didn’t dare ask 

“Have you ever had a girlfriend?” Xavier suddenly asked. 

Timothy froze and, after snapping out of his daze, instinctively shook his head before nodding vigorously. “I have, but not right now. 

“If she suddenly changes her attitude toward you to the point where it’s completely different, what does that mean?” 

Xavier was typically absorbed in work and surrounded mostly by clients or business partners. He kept his personal and professional lives separate, Even when a client tried to flatter him, he didn’t enjoy forming friendships with them. 

He didn’t have many friends, so when faced with this issue, he casually asked Timothy for advice. 

“It means there’s no love anymore,” Timothy said bluntly. 

He thought about his ex–girlfriend, who was five years younger than him. When she loved him and flirted constantly with him, she called him “daddy“, but when they broke up, she called him an “old man” 

Such a drastic change could only mean one thing–falling out of love. 

No love? These words hit Xavier like a train. His eyes widened sharply. 

His face tensed up as he replayed Lily’s recent behavior, scene by scene in his mind. 

He wanted her love. He wanted her to be the same as before. Someone who gazed at him with gentle, shimmering eyes, constantly revolving around him. 

Lily couldn’t possibly not love him. 

Xavier called Emma in the afternoon. “Make fried fish tonight.” 

“Okay. I’ll go buy the fish now,” Emma replied cheerfully but then hesitated. “But I’ve never made it before. I’m not sure if I can do it right.” 

Xavier’s words were pointed. “Lily can make it.” 

Emma quickly caught on. “Mrs. Fulton is very skilled. The fried fish she makes is always delicious!” 

As Xavier entered the house that evening, he could already smell the unmistakable scent of fried fish. But as he walked deeper into the villa, the smell began to grow more off–putting
