Chapter 114 

Lily’s explanation did little to calm Xavier’s anger. However, he released her and walloed over to the sofa, his voice dripping with sarcasm. 

“If you’re so open and honest, why were you parked on the street next to Lupier and lying to me about working late?” 

Lily took a deep breath, nodding slightly. “Lying was my mistake, but would you have accepted the truth?” 

Xavier pressed his tongue to his cheek, a smirk of disdain crossing his face as he spoke arrogantly. “Don’t flatter yourself. It was just a meal. I don’t care. 

His face was contemptuous, as though the idea of Lily dining with another man meant nothing to him. In fact, even if she had been dining alone with Terence, he wouldn’t have minded. After all, he didn’t love her. 

Lily’s heart ached at his words. “If that’s how you feel, maybe you should get some rest.” With that, she turned to leave, grabbed her suitcase, and headed upstairs 

“Stop.” Xavier’s voice suddenly became cold. “I can overlook the meal, but lying and cooking for another man? Do you have any respect for me at all? In several photos, Lily’s expression was soft, her smile gentle, and her eyes warm. That expression was a world apart from the cold, distant look she 

Wore now.. 

Xavier couldn’t understand. Had he borrowed money from her or done something unforgivable? Why else would she always look at him like he had wronged her, like being with him was some kind of injustice? 

Lily hadn’t expected him to make an issue of this. The photos just happened to capture her preparing some vegetables. It was just a few seconds, but perfectly timed. 

She sighed, then spoke, “I invited them for dinner, and while I was there, I picked up a few things. I only cooked one dish.” 

No matter how she explained it, Xavier would only see it as an excuse. 

“You love cooking so much? Fine. Tomorrow, I’ll have Emma go home. Like before, you can quit your job and just serve me. 

He knew exactly how to push her buttons. 

Lily bit her lip before speaking. “Xavier, do you think I have no dignity in your eyes? Am I only fit to be a housewife?” 

“Dignity?” Xavier raised an eyebrow. “Your so–called dignity is just stubbornness in front of me, isn’t it?” 

He had Emma pass on the message to cook him fried fish, but it wasn’t enough. He had to ask her directly, or she wouldn’t do it. 

Apart from when she was asleep, she had become a hands–off manager–doing nothing. 

She stopped ironing and folding his suits with care. They no longer hung neatly in the wardrobe, ready to be worn. 

Anyone who knew about it would think he had a wife, but those who didn’t might assume he was taking care of a goddess! 

You said it yourself back then–these things weren’t things you asked me to do,” Lily reminded him, echoing his own words. “Since I wasn’t required 

do them, it’s only natural I’m not doing them now, 

right? 

Xavier didn’t seem to care. “Wow, you’re so obedient. But now I’m asking 

you to do them again, aren’t 1?”
