After finishing the call with Lily, Maryanne tossed the phone back to Terence.
“Terence, why didn’t you send Lily home?”
Terence tucked the phone away. “It wasn’t convenient.”
It was just three words, but Maryanne couldn’t make sense of them.
She complained as she got out of the car, “What do you mean? You’re just worried. She’s only a girl, taking a cab alone in the middle of the night. And now that Xavier doesn’t even bother giving her a ride…”
She kept rambling on while Terence followed behind, his head aching from her constant chatter. Soon, they reached the second floor.
Terence turned toward his study. “You should get some rest. I’ve got some work to handle,”
“You should sleep too! Don’t push yourself so hard. You’re always making me worry!”
Maryanne yawned as she entered her room and closed the door.
In the study, Terence opened his computer and started working on tasks related to the Devereux Group. In the end, he sent an email to his assistant titled “Sponsorship for Avelon Designs Competition“.
To ensure fairness, the competition didn’t allow any design company to sponsor it. Hence, he had no choice but to rely on Devereux Group to become a sponsor for the competition. As far as he knew, a large sum of sponsorship money had yet to be secured.
He could take it all and, in doing so, gain the final say.
Terence’s decision faced opposition from Devereux Group’s upper management. Devereux Group’s subsidiaries weren’t involved in the design industry at all!

Lily had wanted to tell Terence about her participation in the competition, but she hadn’t seen him.
On Friday evening, right after finishing work, she received a call from Hazel, asking her to come to the hospital to visit Hayden. –
The caregiver had also been given Lily’s contact information. It anything happened to Hayden, they were to contact Bobby or Hazel.
Hazel only said one brief sentence on the phone-“Come quickly and see Hayden!”
She was sobbing as she hung up.
Lily immediately hailed a taxi and rushed to Jadeford General Hospital. However, when she arrived at the floor where Hayden’s room was located, a nurse at the front desk stopped her.
“Ms. Joyner, the doctor specifically said that no visitors are allowed.”
