Chapter 120 

“Have you been taking your medication recently?” 

Lily choked on the last sip of her soup when she heard him ask about the medication. 

“Uhh.. yes.” She covered her mouth with a tissue as she coughed, her eyes narrowing in confusion. 

The question caught her off guard because her parents had been pressuring her about having children, so anything related to pregnancy made her particularly sensitive. 

But Xavier’s gaze seemed knowing, as though he saw through her. To him, it seemed like she was guilty. 

“I have work to handle tonight.” 

A few days ago, he had indeed forgotten to check if she had been taking her medication. But since her period had just ended, it was the safe period, and the chances of her getting pregnant were very slim 

Lily lost her appetite the moment Xavier appeared. She was about to throw out the remaining soup, but his mention of work tonight made her pause. 

Did that mean he wouldn’t be returning to the bedroom to sleep?

Tomorrow was Saturday, and with no work to worry about, she threw herself into her preparation, staying up late into the early morning hours. She had planned to wake up naturally the next day and head to the Fulton Manor, but the doorbell rang incessantly early in the morning. 

The sound startled her from a deep sleep, and she groggily went downstairs to open the door. 

Standing outside was Hazel, who was wearing a teal wool coat and makeup so meticulously applied it looked flawless. 

“Xavier has already gone to work. Why are you still sleeping at this hour?” 

Without waiting for Lily to respond, Hazel pushed past her and entered the villa. 

Lily, who was still half–asleep, shivered as the cold air hit her when she opened the door 

“If you’re here about the check–up, you might as well go home.” 

She followed Hazel inside, who had already sat on the sofa, her eyes scanning the villa. 

“Don’t be ungrateful. When I married your dad, our family also lived in a villa just like this. But later… how could you be unaware of your good fortune?” Whenever Hazel came here, her eyes gleamed with something more than admiration. This was one of the most prestigious villa areas in Jadeford, and living here symbolized status. 

Lily pondered for a moment before replying, “So, according to you, even if I marry Xavier, it doesn’t guarantee I’ll live a glamorous life forever. Who knows, maybe the Fulton family will go bankrupt one day.” 

“Bah!” Hazel shot up suddenly. “So, you’ve made up your mind to go against me, huh?” 

Seeing that Hazel was about to start an argument, Lily decided to deflect. 

“I’m going upstairs to change. I’m heading to the Fulton Manor. You can sit here for a whille.‘
