Chapter 122
Lily took the bus to the city center, bought fruit and snacks, and took a taxi to the Fulton Manor
By the time she arrived, it was nearly noon. Edith had known she was coming, so she had the kitchen prepare her favorite dishes in advance.
Only one bowl of soup was left to finish, so Lily chatted with Edith in the living room
“Lily, tell Grandma the truth. Is Xavier not doing well?”
Xavier had just had a check–up that morning, but the report wasn’t ready yet.
Edith, however, couldn’t help but worry. Could it be that the doctor who did the Fulton family’s yearly check–ups had been lazy and simply filled out a generic report for Xavier?
Lily telt awkward discussing this with an elder, so she answered softly, “He’s fine.”
“By the look on your face, I know he really isn’t doing well,” Edith said, her heart sinking
“I didn’t say that!” Lily hurriedly shook her head. But based on her words, Edith had already drawn her own conclusion.
“There shouldn’t be any serious issues, maybe just… weakness. We’ll start with supplements!”
Edith stood up and walked toward the kitchen. “Emma, come here. I need to plan their diet for moving forward.”
Since it was Saturday, Lily and Xavier had come here, so Emma hadn’t gone to their place.
Upon hearing Edith’s words, Emma quickly wiped her hands and ran out. “Mrs. Fulton Senior, you called?”
“Just one word–supplement,” Edith replied. “Start a soup later. Let it cook all afternoon, and it’ll be perfect by evening. And the wild berries we bought last time, put in half a pound.”
Lily couldn’t help but twitch her lips, finding it increasingly unbearable to listen.
It wasn’t about Xavier–it was about herself. Without supplements, Xavier could torment her until midnight, but with them… Her legs involuntarily trembled.
“Sigh, I’m just born to worry.” After giving the instructions, Edith returned to the sofa. “Lily, thank you for all your hard work. Xavier must take alter his mother. The Fulton family hasn’t had this issue for generations…”
“Grandma, his body is fine.”
Just the thought of Edith’s soup instructions made Lily’s temples throb.
Edith, thinking she was being considerate of Xavier, added, “Protect his pride in front of others, but with me, you don’t need to hold back.” “Protecting who’s pride?” Xavier’s cold voice came from behind.
Lily stiffened. When she turned around, she saw him descending the stairs in a well–tailored suit. Wasn’t he supposed to be at the company? “You know what I mean.” Edith glared at him, clearly disappointed. “What a shame for this family–don’t let the Fulton family die out!” Xavier’s brow furrowed with weariness. He had trouble sleeping in the study last night, and early this morning, he’d been dragged to the hospital for a check–up
