Chapter 136
Sarah had assumed it was someone Lily had hired, someone she had personally monitored.
Otherwise, Sarah would never have gone out of her way to inquire through Nadia. She didn’t know how to thank Xavier for acting as an intermediary.
Lily was lost in thought for a moment when Nadia sent another message.
“We’re in the same field, but don’t misunderstand. I’m just a small player trying to get to know you and discuss design issues!”
Nadia’s Moments didn’t list personal details. Although she was somewhat known in the design world, she preferred to keep her identity under wraps.
Lily replied, “It’s an honor, but I’m not very good. I hope you’ll understand”
“How could that be? If you can design something like the Glenview Villa, you’re definitely talented!”
Nadia noticed that the account was new. Maybe it was someone important trying to remain anonymous?
With these thoughts swirling in her mind, they chatted a little more before Nadia had to leave for a meeting
The entire afternoon was spent erasing and reworking the Glenview Villa design from scratch. Working on the same design without any inspiration drained her creativity.
After work, the design board remained blank.
She drove her Maybach to her home just a street away, had dinner, and with some time still to spare, she began working on the draft for the competition.
Although Xavier wasn’t thrilled about her bringing work home, he had been just as busy lately.
After dinner, they both did their own things–she was in the bedroom, and he was studying. It wasn’t until late that he returned to their room. She shut off her computer and went to bed.
“Did Nova Group sponsor the Avelon Designs Competition?” Lily couldn’t help but ask
Xavier hesitated momentarily as he lifted the thin blanket, preparing to climb into bed. A flicker of discomfort passed through his eyes almost too quickly to notice.
“Why? Do you have a problem with it?”
Upon seeing his reaction, Lily regretted asking. What was the point of asking? Could she get him to take back the control he had handed over to Sarah?
“Just asking.” She pursed her lips, turned away, and turned off the light on her side of the bed.
Xavier watched as she lay there, her back to him, her body curled up in the thin blanket. A wave of irritation stirred inside him–she had never turned her back to him before.
After a moment, he turned off the light and climbed into bed, also rumning his back to her.
For once, they fell asleep without a word. But beneath the calm exterior, Lily’s mind was far from peaceful,
She didn’t trust Sarah. She wanted to talk to Xavier about the Avelon Designs Competition, ask him to keep Sarah out of it, and give her a chance.
But after thinking it over, she realized Xavier had set this situation up for Sarah to vent her frustrations. He’d handed it all over to her, indifferent to how Lily felt about it. It wasn’t as if a conversation or begging would change his mind.
At this point, she could only hope that Sarah would keep her word.
Lily focused all her energy on the Aveloni Designs Competition design. She finished her design with only three days left but still felt uncertain about some details. She sent the draft to Terence, hoping he could offer some feedback.
