Timothy’s corners of the lips twitched. 

“Okay!” 

Rowan was deeply passionate about his medical research. He would undoubtedly give in. 

After hanging up, Timothy immediately arranged for Rowan to start working at Jadeford Hospital the next day. 

Meanwhile, Xavier received a message from Lily. She was calling him downstairs for dinner. The meals were ready, so he got up and headed downstairs. 

Lily sat at the dining table and stared at the two warm meals. 

Her mind had been preoccupied with how to bring up the subject of asking Xavier for money while preparing the meals. 

She had asked him for money in the two years since their marriage back when she hadn’t yet uncovered the relationship between him and Sarah. It felt like a natural thing to do at that time. After all, they were husband and wife. She felt like he should provide the money if she needed it. 

However, it felt different now. She couldn’t shake the feeling that she was trading her body for money, selling herself in exchange for his favor. 

It was as if he would only give her money if she had successfully pleased him. Their marriage had become twisted and tainted in her eyes. 

The man sat at the head of the table. He picked up the cutlery with his slender fingers as his gaze fell on her. 

She still seemed weighed down by her thoughts. She was likely still worrying about Hayden! However, he had no intention of telling her about his arrangements to bring Rowan back. 

He knew the true faces of the Joyner family and didn’t want to get further entangled with them. 

Lily ended up asking nothing from him. She decided to walt a little longer. There were still a few days left. 

Xavier informed her that the family gathering at Fulton Manor had been canceled. She just happened to log into the portal of the Avelon Designs Competition and received a notice that she had been eliminated. 

Her design submission hadn’t made it past the preliminary round. 

Her mood immediately soured. She didn’t even bother leaving the house. Instead, she pulled out her design drafts and went over them meticulously. The competition results hadn’t been officially announced yet. However, early submissions were reviewed ahead of time due to the large number of participants 

A week–long review period would culminate in the announcement of all selected entries once the submission deadline had passed. 

Although she hadn’t had high hopes for the competition in the first place, it still stung to be eliminated in the first round. 

She couldn’t help but suspect Sarah had interfered behind the scenes. However, she had agreed to continue designing for Glenview Villa until Sarah was satisfied with her work. 

She took a screenshot of the elimination notice and sent it to Sarah on WhatsApp 

Sarah replied quickdy, “Lily, you couldn’t even qualify for the preliminaries. Why bother staying in the design industry?” 

Lily pondered for a while before texting back, attempting to bait her. 

“You went back on your word.” Her tone was accusatory as though she had solid evidence
