Edith had raised Shane with so much effort, only to see him act like a lapdog in front of Tamara. She couldn’t stand it and didn’t approve of it! He didn’t even act like a man! 

She feared Xavier would take after him, but when she thought of Tamara’s cold, work–obsessed personality, she feared he would end up like Tamara 

instead. 

Ultimately, she would still have to worry no matter who he resembled. 

It was late at night when Xavier arrived at the Fulton Manor. Since his marriage and taking over the company, Edith and the others rarely summoned 

him home. 

He hurried into the villa, looking anxious. “Grandma, Dad, what happened?” 

“It’s about your marital home being burned down,” Shane said, pouring a cup of tea and pushing it toward him. “Why was Sarah staying there?” 

When this matter was brought up, Xavier couldn’t help but think of his divorce from Lily. 

After leaving the courthouse, his mind had been in a mess. Thankfully, he threw himself into work, suppressing his emotions. 

But now, those emotions surged again, and he felt irritated. He shrugged off his thick coat and tossed it onto the back of the couch. 

“She had bad neighbors and had nowhere else to stay, so she borrowed a place. 

As soon as he said “borrowed“, Edith slammed the table. “You bastard! Why didn’t you just let her sleep in the same bed as you and Lily? 

“Why did she have to stay in y 

your marital home? Don’t you have any sense at all?” 

“Mom, please calm down.” Shane, who was worried about her agitation, tried to intervene. “Let him explain first.” 

She looked like was about to shoot daggers. She asked, “I won’t listen to his explanation. Did Lily know about this? Answer me!” 

“She found out later, but she didn’t say much, Xavier answered, furrowing his brows and trying to stay calm. 

“Of course, now that the house has been destroyed, what could she say?” Edith raised her hand and pinched her own philtrum in frustration. 

Things were even worse than she thought. 

Shane turned around, intending to soothe her chest, but she punched him hard on the shoulder. “It’s all your fault! You’re always babysitting your wife! He wouldn’t have done this if you had just curbed your attitude a bit!”

“Mom, ouch-“Shane didn’t dare fight back, taking two solid punches. “Please calm down. I’ll talk to him, okay?” 

Since she was older, she was soon tired of hitting him. She snorted and turned her head away. 

“You let another woman stay in your house without consulting Lily. After all, it’s a matter involving the opposite sex, especially when it’s your marital home. Have you thought about how she would feel?” 

He pressed the point. “And on top of that, you let her stay in your marital home. That should never have happened.”
