“Say something! You can’t just keep ignoring my messages!” 

Lily did want to reply, but even if she did, Hazel would just have endless things to say, trying to convince her not to divorce, 

After thinking it over, she replied, “We’ve already gone to the courthouse to file for divorce. After the one–month cooling–off period, we’ll go straight to get the divorce certificate.” 

It had been two hours since Hazel sent her the last message. When Hazel received the message, she jumped in shock, opened it, and walked over to Bobby, holding onto a shred of hope. 

“Honey, there’s still a month of cooling–off period. Maybe by now, Lily is pregnant with Xavier’s child. The pregnancy will definitely show within a month, so the divorce won’t happen…” 

Bobby didn’t believe it at all and shoved her aside. “What if she’s not pregnant? They’ll just go get the divorce certificate in a month. You need to find where she is. You must figure out how much money she’s gotten from Xavier…” 

If a child couldn’t keep the marriage together, they would have to get more money!

Lily stared at her phone screen, conflicted about whether or not to answer. But before she could make up her mind, the call dropped off. 

She was about to put the phone down when the ringtone sounded again. It was still Hazel. 

Taking a deep breath, Lily answered, immediately saying, “Don’t try to talk me out of it-” 

“Lily, please help me. Your father has kicked me out, and I don’t know where I am…” On the other end of the line, Hazel was sobbing and sniffling. Lily paused for a moment. “Why did he kick you out?”

“Lily, I don’t have a penny on me, and it’s so cold outside!”
