Chapter 21 

After a brief pause, Lily said, “Xavion helped find the lawyer” 

Maryanne was the first person she’d told about her marriage to Xavier. The night before they registered their marriage, Maryanne took her out for a drink. The latter ended up gating drunk, and sobbed while hugging her, making Lily promise to find happiness 

Since Terence was there that night, he also knew about her marriage to Zavier. After that, Terence suddenly left the country and did not return for two years. taly was not as close to hom as before, so she felt awkward bringing up her divorce plans right after seeing him again. 

Thankfully, Terence did not as many questions and only commented, “This matter is going to be troublesome for everyone involved.” 

“No matter how much trouble it brings, I can’t abandon Hayden,” Lily replied. 

She knew that by representing Hayden, she would likely become the focus of public attention and scrutiny. Her every move would be watched, and one wrong step could lead to severe backlash, but Hayden was her brother after all. 

Even if the car accident seemed suspicious, or if it was truly Hayden’s fault, she had to do everything possible to help him make things right. She could not just stand by and do nothing. 

“If anything comes up, just let me know,” Terence said. When the elevator doors opened, he held them, gesturing for Lily to exit first. 

Lily stepped out and adjusted her clothes, taking off the borrowed jacket to return it to Terence. “Thank you, Terence.” 

Her wrist was visibly red from where the victim’s brother had grabbed her earlier, the bruising impossible to ignore. Terence noticed but pretended not to see as he took back his jacket. 

He simply stated, “No need to thank me. Be careful on your way home” 

After saying goodbye, Lily headed to the parking lot. She was driving one of the Joyner family’s spare cars since Bobby was still in the hospital and would not need it for a while. 

Later that night, a Maybach pulled up to the villa. Xavier stepped out, his jacket draped over his arm as he loosened his tie and entered the house. 

The interior was completely dark, and he paused at the door for a moment. He had not been 

home for several days due to work, and the last time he was here was the night Lily had their 

argument. 

Usually, the lights would still be on when Xavier came home, no matter how late. Then, Lily would greet him at the door with a warm smile. But tonight, there was only darkness, and he felt strange about it.. 

He turned on the foyer light, removed his shoes, and entered the living room, tossing his jacket and tie onto the couch. Following his usual routine, he went upstairs to shower. However, having no one to greet him, take care of his laundry, or attend to his needs felt odd. 

Xavier frowned deeply as he pulled out his phone to make a call. He asked, “How’s the case going?” 

Alan’s voice came through the phone. “Thanks to your influence, this case is getting a lot of attention. Even though it’s only an animal–related case, there’s a good chance of legal prosecution.“. 

“Good,” Xavier replied as he stepped onto the balcony, the night breeze pressing his pants against his long legs. “What about the Joyner family case?”
