Chapter 73
When Xavier had arrived at Glenview Villa, he’d realized that the place Sarah had chosen to live in was his and Lily’s former marital home.
This was the first time he’d visited since the renovation. The style was decent, but unfortunately, Sarah was already living here.
Every corner of the place bore her mark.
He did indeed have mysophobia; he couldn’t live in a house that had been inhabited by someone else, especially not as a marital home.
There was no need to ask Sarah to leave. He didn’t want to prepare another house for her.
But Lily was here as the designer to take measurements.
The surprise in his eyes faded, and his brow furrowed instinctively.
“Xavier, these are the designers from Lupier. This is Ms. Cooper and Ms. Joyner.”
Sarah walked up behind Xavier, resting her hands casually on the back of the couch, her posture intimate.
Nadia couldn’t contain her excitement–so it was true that Xavier and Sarah were a couple! She knew the secret but didn’t dare to speak out. “Hello, Mr. Fulton.”
Lily, standing beside her, struggled to hold back tears. She didn’t want to lose her composure and make a scene here.
Aside from a brief look of surprise when he first saw her, he showed no guilt or unease.
By now, his expression was back to normal, and his lips curled into a cold, indifferent smile.
“Ladies, which one of you is the lead designer?”
Nadia didn’t want to reveal any personal tension in front of Xavier. She quickly looked at Lily. “Ms. Joyner is our lead designer. Lupier is currently cultivating new talent.”
The design fee for this house was at least several hundred thousand dollars, and it would easily reach seven figures, including the materials. This was considered a major project in the design world.
Even if Xavier was unfamiliar with design, he knew that a company wouldn’t entrust a project worth millions to someone without confidence in their abilities–unless someone had deliberately promoted a newcomer.
If the project failed, someone else would step in. If it succeeded, the newcomer would become a rising star.
He immediately thought of Terence.
Xavier leaned back on the couch, his fingers gently massaging his wrist as he looked Lily up and down.
“Talent? What makes you think she’s talented, Ms. Cooper? What sets Ms. Joyner apart?”
Nadia froze.
The title “Ms. Joyner” sounded so mocking to Lily’s ears. In his eyes, she was nothing more than a housewife. To associate such a lofty title with her was a joke. It didn’t matter.
No matter who designed this house, it would be renovated and remodeled. Whether she felt heartache or not was irrelevant. Face and pride didn’t matter.
What mattered was that she needed to stand tall before Xavier and not let him hurt her with his words.
“My graduation project won an award, and I received many other awards during my university years.”
He suddenly laughed. He stood up, hands in his pockets, and walked over to Lily.
