Chapter 87 

Xavier stared at Lily, his cold gaze following her as she crossed the road and got into the SUV. 

Upon entering the car, Lily felt a chill run down her spine. She said softly, “Let’s go, Terence.” 

Soon, the SUV made a U–turn and drove past the Maybach. 

Timothy wiped the sweat on his forehead nervously, thinking about how Xavier usually never faced this kind of rejection. 

If only Xavier hadn’t said those unnecessary words earlier, Lily would’ve already been in the car, and Terence wouldn’t have had the chance to take her away. “Mr. Fulton, should we head back?” Timothy asked. 

“Let’s go!” Xavier’s gaze was still locked on the car in front of them. He added, “Follow them. I want to see where they’re headed.” 

He couldn’t help but feel that Terence’s actions made him seem desperate and unworthy.. 

Plus, he was convinced it would be a disaster if the Devereux family ever ended up in Terence’s hands. 

Xavier pressed his lips tightly together, lowered his head, and turned his attention back to his laptop. 

For some reason, the document that had made perfect sense just moments ago now seemed incomprehensible. He stared at it for a while, but nothing came to mind. Feeling frustrated, he slammed the laptop shut and rubbed his temples. 

All he could think about was Lily. How dare she get into another man’s car right in front of him? 

Even if she wasn’t sitting in the passenger seat, it was still infuriating. Just because she had someone else pursuing her now didn’t mean she could act this way! Xavier made a mental note of what Terence had done. Nevertheless, he decided not to confront him directly–it wasn’t worth it to do so just because of a woman. Besides, he had better ways to deal with it… 

“Mr. Fulton, they’ve just turned into Bayview Gardens…” Timothy said as the Maybach came to a stop outside Bayview Gardens. Then, he asked, “Should we go in, Mr. Fulton?” “No.” Xavier replied coldly. He didn’t want to meddle in Lily’s business–he couldn’t let her know that he cared. 

However, his gaze darkened as he watched the SUV slowly disappear into the neighbourhood.

Inside the SUV, Terence wasn’t alone–Maryanne was there too. Lily had sent a text to Maryanne the night before, when she’d been at Fulton Manor. 

The moment Lily got into the car, Maryanne immediately grabbed her collar and checked her neck. Seeing that there were no new marks aside from the old ones, she finally let go. 

“What is Xavier the Hound doing here?” Maryanne shot a glare at the Maybach through the window. She seemed tempted to get out of the car and teach him a lesson. 

Lily shook her head. “I don’t know.” 

It was hard to believe this was just a coincidence, but she’d rather think that than assume Xavier had come here just for her. 

“Anyways, let’s not talk about him.” Maryanne scoffed and quickly changed the subject. “Where’s Hayden?” 

“He was already picked up.” 

Upon hearing Hayden’s name, Lily immediately recalled how quickly Bobby and Hazel had come and gone, ignoring her completely. 

She’d expected it, but it had still hurt nonetheless.
