Chapter 88 

“During the past two years I spent abroad, I was only able to eat our local dishes by cooking them myself. Now, I just can’t get used to the taste of restaurant food. Let’s just eat at your place, Lily,” Terence said, glancing at Lily through the rearview mirror. 

There was no way Lily could refuse him now, so she agreed. However, she decided that once they were home, she wouldn’t let Terence anywhere near the kitchen. 

But things didn’t go as planned–the moment they stepped into her house, Maryanne pulled her over to the couch. Terence took off his blazer, rolled up his sleeves, and headed straight for the kitchen. 

“Terence, please, let me do it.” Lily quickly pushed Maryanne away. 

However, before she could stand, Maryanne pulled her back down. “You’re upset now; you shouldn’t be cooking,” Maryanne insisted. 

Lily pushed her away once again. “I’m not upset!” 

“How could you not be? You’re meeting Sarah tomorrow to apologize and beg her to return to your husband’s side. What kind of wife does that?” 

To stop Lily from going into the kitchen, Maryanne could only bring up a sensitive topic to divert the former’s attention. 

The thought of asking Sarah to come back was something Lily had been avoiding. She immediately stopped fighting back and frowned. 

“Why shouldn’t I do so? It’s just an apology. Plus, if I do this, Xavier might finally agree to the divorce. What’s there to lose?” Lily finally said. 

Maryanne was stunned. “You really feel that way?” 

Lily forced a smile. It wasn’t that she was fine with it; she just had no other choice. 

“Now that you’ve brought this up, I should probably message Sarah right now.” 

Lily pulled out her phone and sent Sarah a text. “Ms. Lynde, are you free to meet tomorrow?” 

Even though Lily knew that Sarah lived in Glenview Villa, she felt it was too abrupt to just show up at her door. She knew her manners and wanted to deal with the matter with dignity. Sarah’s response was also quite respectful. “Let’s meet at 8:00 am tomorrow morning.” 

Although she didn’t mention a location, Lily knew that it would be at Glenview Villa. 

“You should take your marriage certificate with you tomorrow. I’ll contact the media–let’s expose your husband for having an affair and letting another woman stay in the villa meant for you!” Maryanne exclaimed. She was eager to teach them a lesson. 

Lily just ignored her–she knew that Maryanne was just venting and wouldn’t actually go through with it. 

Instead, she pulled out her phone and texted Hayden. After she’d seen him breakdown in her arms earlier, she couldn’t stop worrying about him. 

She sent him several messages, urging him not to take the situation to heart. She hoped he would focus on recovering and getting his life back on track. 

However, Hayden only replied with two words. “I’ll try.” 

Lily set her phone down and turned to Maryanne, who was venting her frustration by playing games. So, she stood up and walked to the kitchen. “Terence, is there anything I can help with?” “If you really want to help, why not just keep me company?” he replied. After all, he didn’t have anything for her to do.
