Layla decisively pulled the car door open. "Of course we're getting in. Let's go."

Samantha had been waiting for her response. Without hesitation, she opened the door on the other side and climbed in.

The night wind was biting cold, but the car's heater was on, and it finally felt warm once they got in.

"We'll just cook something when we get back. There's no need to trouble yourself."

Ethan was silent for a moment. He glanced at Layla a few times through the rearview mirror, then cautiously asked, "Are you mad?"

"No."

"Then why does it feel like you're ignoring me?"

The only answer he got was a long, heavy silence.

Samantha felt the urge to tell Ethan what was going on. Layla was always rational but still had a temper. It was obvious that she was angry, but she just wouldn't say it.
