"Mr. Casper," she said, her face calm but with a hint of respect.

He gave her a bland look. "I’ve been hearing that your performance has been slipping lately."

Hearing? From whom? Nova?

"I'm not sure what you mean by 'slipping,' Mr. Casper. Can you clarify which part of my work is in question?"

"Ms. Nova mentioned that you’ve been constantly searching for images online for your designs. Are you planning to plagiarize, or are you just out of ideas?"

Eliza was stunned.

Yes, she had searched online, but only for types and details of flowers.

Was that considered plagiarism? Did Nova not understand what it meant? Did Casper not understand either?

"So, Mr. Casper, you tell me, if not floral materials, what should I use as inspiration for my accessory design that features flowers? I think you know that. Nova doesn’t have the adequate experience and skills to really understand what makes a good design, nor what materials are beneficial."

Eliza’s words caused Casper's expression to darken. "Are you questioning my judgment and choices? Eliza, who gave you that right?"

True, she had no right. She was just stating facts.

"If there’s nothing else, Mr. Casper, I'll leave for the day."

She turned to go but was stopped by him. "Come with me to the family estate tonight. Caroline is back."

Caroline had returned?

Though she and Caroline got along fine, she had no desire to go to the Welton estate.

"I have plans tonight."

"Cancel them."

He began to undo his tie, anger evident in his movements as he unbuttoned his cuffs. "Even if we were in the middle of the street, what could anyone say? Eliza, remember your place."

As he unbuckled his belt and pinned her beneath him, Eliza didn’t feel like Mrs. Welton at all.

She was just a toy for Casper’s frustrations… there whenever he wanted, regardless of time, place, or her consent.

He lowered his face to kiss her, but she turned her face away. Frustrated, he grabbed her chin, his tongue forcing its way into her mouth.

From anger to indulgence, his passion grew, becoming more forceful. Overwhelmed, Eliza tried to push him away but found her wrists pinned above her head.

"Are you not happy?" he breathed, biting her earlobe. "Tell me, who did you have plans with today?"

She bit her lip, silent. Tears welled up in her eyes, making her look pitiful.

He thrusted into her fiercely, his dissatisfaction clear as he demanded, "Who did you prefer over me today that you dare give me such an attitude? Hm?"
