Not that I remember much about it, just what I have heard from my parents, and it had been nearly fifteen years ago. I had to starve myself to make Abi agree to send me to Harvard Law.
His condition was that Reem would accompany me to the US, she had applied for Masters in Literature from Harvard University. She was quite confident that she would be accepted.
My LSAT score was 190 and there was no way that my application was going to get rejected. I had stayed in the United States for 6 months with Uncle Haris, to prepare for the LSAT examination.
After looking at my LSAT score Abi was beyond happy, he was sure I would top my class if I kept up the hard work and which I was sure I would never give up.
"I applied last month itself when they started accepting the applications", I replied grinning.
" Is Uncle Haris going to accompany us to the US?" Reem whispered in my ear.
"There is no way Abi is letting me go without him", I replied in a hushed voice, nodding to a distant relative when we passed her.
" Fuck Emm, I agreed to go to the US with you, to get out of the scrutiny of my parents and not to get under the radar of Uncle Haris", Reem said with a scowl on her face.
"Don't worry, he is quite cool unlike our fathers, we enjoyed our time in the US", I said lowering my voice further.
This was my and Uncle Haris's secret and my parents didn't have a clue about it. And I didn't intend to expose us.
" Emma, babes", Hamza called from somewhere behind us.
Butterflies fluttered in my stomach, he was my cousin, gorgeous and hot as hell the typical Arabian bloke. The fun part was that he had a crush on me since childhood and everyone speculated that we will get married sometime in the future.
"Hey Hamza, where have you been the last week", I greeted him and then asked about his disappearance for the last one week.
" Business as usual babes" He replied chuckling.
I rolled my eyes at his answer, he had taken over their family business a year back and had been successfully running and expanding it.
"Emma", My two youngest sibling came to me and hugged at the same time.
Ali and Fahad were inseparable, though they have an age gap of three years, still, they stick together all the time.
" Wow guys, you both look impressive", I looked at them who were wearing the traditional Arabian thobe.
"I do, don't I?" Fahad asked with a smile, his icy blue eyes smiled with him.
"I look better than you dude", Ali said pushing him away and giving me a peck on my cheek.
" You both look wonderful, now if you guys will excuse me, I need to get to Abi and mom", I said as I scanned the room for my parents, I found then standing with another group of guests, this time near one of the exit.
I had just taken a few steps when my eyes landed on Ahmed and Alia, who were standing with a typical Arabian beauty, I think that was Alisha, and from her facial expressions, I saw she was not looking delighted to meet Ahmed. Any girl with a right mind will know to stay clear of my player of a brother.
"Happy Birthday Em", I heard from beside me.
