Chapter 268 Michelle's Calls

Harper attempted to explain, but as the words formed, she altered what she intended to say.

She whispered, "I don't mean anything else. I just feel that your sudden change makes me uncomfortable. In fact, there is no need for us to become less like ourselves because of the baby."

Benjamin's tenderness might lead Harper to misconstrue his feelings as love.

But at the same time, she knew very well that this would never happen, so for her, such an idea was very lamentable.

Harper met Benjamin's deep gaze. They looked at each other, and in the end, neither of them spoke.

Back at the apartment, Harper took a shower. Then, she spread her hair to cover her face deliberately and then went to visit Eleanor.

Eleanor seemed a little bit annoyed with her appearance. "Why do you always bother me? Can't you leave me some private space?"

Harper was stunned.

She said, "Grandma, do you still need some private space? That's not what you said before. Don't you remember that you said that I was your everything? Why has it changed now?"

"Everyone will change."

"But have you become too cruel?"

"Enough! I'm going to read a book. Be quiet, and don't disturb me."

Eleanor ignored her and lowered her head to read.

Harper was extremely helpless, but of course, she didn't believe Eleanor was serious. Eleanor just teased her.

Harper stayed for a while and then left. The servant who took care of Eleanor was a middle-aged woman from Dattlech. Harper had specially hired her. She had familiar topics to talk about with Eleanor. She watched Harper close the door and then asked Eleanor softly, "Do you really not miss Harper?"

"Does it matter whether I miss her or not? I am not the one who can be with her to the end. She must learn to find a partner who can spend the rest of his life with her."

She sighed silently and then said, "Bring me the medicine."

Benjamin assured her he would return to pick her up at noon, advising her to remain at the company and refrain from wandering around.

Harper nodded in agreement before opening the car door and getting out.

Upon arriving at the company, she discussed the recent work with Frank. In the meanwhile, Frank's cell phone kept ringing, but he cut it off without answering.

Harper asked, "Why didn't you answer? Do you need me to leave?"

"No, it's Michelle."

"Answer it. Maybe it is something urgent."

Frowning, Frank clicked to answer. Michelle's voice was a little excited, and even Harper heard it. "Frank, why don't you answer my call? Are you with Harper again? Why do you always want to stay with her? Isn't she already married? Is she still pestering you?"

Frank subconsciously glanced at Harper with great displeasure and said coldly, "Michelle, can you stop overthinking? I'm at work, and I've made it clear, so please calm down, okay?"

Michelle started crying again and was in a bad mood.
