Chapter 288 Nightmares
Harper ate and stayed with Eleanor for a while. She then showered and went to bed.
Benjamin was probably busy and didn't call her. She didn't want to initiate either, so she fell asleep with her cell phone.
She had slept well at first. But somehow, she was suddenly awakened by a nightmare.
After waking up, she couldn't calm down for a long time and didn't dare to go back to sleep, covering her head with the quilt. It caused her to have no rest for the whole night, and she didn't go to the office the next day.
Harper was afraid to sleep by herself. After breakfast, she went to Eleanor's house to lie on the couch and catch up on her sleep.
She had thought it would be better, but Eleanor woke her up.
Harper looked at Eleanor in horror. She saw blood in her dreams and dreamed that someone pushed her off a cliff. And she saw the baby in her belly...
She dared not continue to think back but just stared at Eleanor in awe.
"Harper, did you have a nightmare?"
Eleanor woke Harper up when she heard Harper screaming.
Harper, not wanting to worry Eleanor, smiled, "Maybe I watched too many thrillers last night, so I just had the same dream."
"Are you not going to bed on time with Benjamin out of the house?"
"No, I was just bored."
"You need to sleep well or the baby won't grow well."
Harper just smiled. It was still early, but she didn't really want to go back. But she was afraid Eleanor would worry about her, so she had no choice but to go back.
She played lullabies on her cell phone in order to sleep soundly.
Lying on her bed and closing her eyes, she was just about to fall asleep when her cell phone rang.
She woke up with a shock. She opened her eyes and immediately checked her cell phone. It was a call from Benjamin.
Harper sighed in relief and picked up the phone. "Hello?"
"What's wrong? You don't sound very well."
"No, I didn't sleep last night. I was just getting ready to catch up on my sleep."
Harper's silence struck Benjamin as displeasing. He asked indifferently, "Why don't you answer me?"
She pressed her lips together and whispered, "I don't want to answer."
"Why?"
"There's no reason for it. I don't think it would change anything even if I said I missed you. You're on a business trip in Teninus right now, and you can't come back right away just because I say so. So it would do nothing for me to say it!"
"Harper, you're getting stubborn now," Benjamin murmured somewhat helplessly.
As for the question, Harper didn't answer it even until the very end.
Benjamin certainly couldn't force her.
Since Benjamin had a job to do, they were only on the phone briefly for two or three minutes before it was over.
Harper lay on her side, gently holding her cell phone. She was a little dazed and not very sleepy. She just waited until after lunch before taking a nap break.
But Harper didn't have a good sleep and had nightmares again.
She dreamed that she jumped from the balcony of her apartment. She saw herself lying on the ground, covered in blood with no sign of life. She also heard a baby's cry echoing and lingering no matter what. A pair of empty, glaring eyes that seemed to be dripping blood stared straight at her through the darkness, waking her from her dream.
