My voice was ice-cold, devoid of any emotion: "If you won't bring up breaking up, then I will."

"Ethan, I don't want to hear anything you have to say anymore."

"I don't want to see you. We're done."

"Oh, and don't forget to pay me back for all the medical bills I covered for you over the years. I'll text you the account details."

After hanging up, I blocked him on everything to stop him from blowing up my phone.

Ethan disappeared for three days, and my bank account stayed the same.

Just as I was considering reporting him for fraud, he showed up at my doorstep.

When I looked up, he was standing under the oak tree, grinning like nothing happened.

The evening sun lit up his face, and for a second, I almost saw the old him.

He walked over and handed me a bouquet of roses.

On my birthday, he'd given me the same kind of roses.
