Chapter 182 Rumor Has It
Is there trouble not just between Easton and Victoria, but between Morty and Easion too!
Easton, mystified by Morty’s ignoring him, was reminded of Ellis, which only added to his irritation.
Finished
Cameron entered the private room and glanced at the empty bottles Easton had been drinking from. Assuming the role of a loyal companion, he joked, “Fighting with someone? Drowning your sorrows in booze? Careful, you might end up more miserable. I’ll join you for a few; maybe talking it out will help you feel better.
Easton wasn’t actually upset, but Cameron’s teasing made him slightly uncomfortable.
Easton had never been one to share his feelings openly. From a young age, he was taught to keep his emotions hidden and that speaking too much could lead to trouble.
He took a sip from his drink and said flatly, “I don’t have any heart–to–hearts to share”
“Come on, everyone has something on their mind,” Cameron laughed, continuing to tease. “If it’s romantic troubles, maybe I can offer a fresh perspective. After all, it’s often easier to see clearly from the outside”
Based on his initial impression, Cameron wrongly assumed Easton’s current mood had something to do with Victoria, concluding that Easton was upset about something romantic, so upset he needed to drink it away
“Romantic troubles Easton scoffed. “Are you talking about love?”
“Yeah.” Cameron nodded.
“What gave you the impression that I’m troubled by love?” Easton’s cold gaze swept over Cameron. “Do you think everyone needs love?”
“Well, not everyone, but..” Cameron hesitated.
“I don’t need love, nor do I have romantic troubles. I just want to drink in peace. You can leave, Easton dismissed him curtly. uninterested in listening to unrealistic drivel.
Cameron looked stunned. If Easton didn’t need love, what was his relationship with Victoria?
Since he was essentially being kicked out, Cameron didn’t linger awkwardly but quickly made his exit
It might have been Morty’s slow walking pace, but Cameron caught up with him at the entrance of the club.
Morty, unsurprised to see him, looked him up and down with disdain and said slowly, “Kicked out by Easton”
It wasn’t a question, but a statement.
Seeing Morty’s expectant look, Cameron tilted his head, pondering, “Do you have beef with Easton? Why do you guys act like you can’t stand each other?
Morty just raised an eyebrow and remained silent.
But that wasn’t what Cameron was most curious about; scizing the moment before Morty got into his car, he whispered, “What’s really going on with Easton and Victoria Easton just said he doesn’t need love!”
“Who knows?
Morty’s noncommittal answer prompted Cameron to give him a playful punch.
Morty scanned the surroundings to ensure no one else could overhear them, then said with a hint of disdain, “Nothing’s going on.”
Watching the car drive away, Cameron was left to puzzle in the wind. Had Morry just revealed a bombshell! The rampant rumors about Victoria climbing to Mrs. Easton’s status were false? Why then did Victoria act like it was all true?
Scratching the back of his head, Cameron was baffled.
Then, his curiosity shifted. What had Easton done to be dumped so harshly by Ellus?
So bizarre that he felt like interviewing the parties involved himself to get the scoop.
