Her late husband’s shadow hung over her son, making hard to question whether he was her biological child, even if she wanted to.
After pouring Easton a cup of tea, she gave it to him slowly. “Have some tea.”
Easton was not in the mood for tea. He placed the cup on the table as soon as he had it.
“Drink it while it’s hot,” instructed Sophia,
Easton feeling agitated and confused, took several sips her insistence.
Before Easton could set down his cup, his mother remarked, “Did that tea manage to connect to the water in your brain?”
Easton’s face instantly darkened. “Mom, what do you mean by that?”
Just checking if your brain is filled with water, his mother replied with exaggerated politeness, though her eyes were full of disdain. “Where did your brain cells go? Or is your head filled with mush?”
Easton was speechless.
After all, this was his own mother.
If she wanted to criticize him, he might as well let her.
Sophia poured herself a cup of tea, sipped it slowly, and then said, “Do you really think there’s any trust left between you and Ellis?”
Easton instinctively responded, only to realize his lips were slightly parted, and he couldn’t quite find the right words.
Trust?
He thought carefully for a moment. “It exists.”
Although his answer was affirmative rather than a denial, he wasn’t entirely confident.
“You hesitated just now,” Sophia pointed out calmly.
“I hesitated because…” Easton didn’t understand why his mother had suddenly shifted the conversation in this direction. “Our trust is probably pretty weak.”
“Aside from being weak, have you ever considered that maybe there’s actually no trust at all?”
“That’s impossible.”
Her son’s denial came too fast, so fast that Sophia almost wanted to call him her foolish son once again.
Sophia set her teacup down and looked directly at Easton. “If Ellis trusted you, then when you explained that you didn’t cheat with Victoria, she wouldn’t have called you a performer, makes sense now, doesn’t it?”
“Ellis… Easton pressed his thin lips together. “She’s just got a bad temper. She’s annoyed that I keep

He was quite used to Ellis scolding him by now. Still, there were certain remarks that rubbed him the wrong way, leaving him upset and stirring up some negative emotions.
Ellis.
As the third generation of the Hudson family, he’d been born at the top of the pyramid. Maybe not the very top at first, but the moment he secured his inheritance, he found himself right at the peak, like he was living on cloud nine.
If her son really wanted to win back Ellis and rebuild their relationship, he’d have to learn to see things from her perspective.
To fully understand why Ellis decided to divorce in the first place, what triggered her decision and to dig deeper into why she’s refusing to reconcile now.
“If you refuse to see things from her perspective, how will you ever understand what she’s feeling?” Sophia motioned for Easton to place his hand over his heart. For example, imagine you thought Ellis was cheating on you. What would your first reaction be?”
“I never once believed Ellis was cheating. Easton said coldly. “But someone did try to mislead me into thinking she was. My first reaction was that it couldn’t be true. I trusted her enough to know that.”
Back then, with how clingy Ellis used to be, practically glued to his side 24/7 and considering the comfort. and status that came with being Sophia, she wouldn’t have been foolish enough to cheat with someone inferior to him.
Sophia’s expression grew even more displeased. She had half a mind to point at the door and tell him
to leave.
This stubborn boy, he probably came here just to test her patience!

Taking a few deep breaths to calm herself, she said, “When a husband cheats, any wife who has feelings for him is going to be hurt first, then angry, angry that he Betrayed her! Do you get that?”
“Would Ellis even feel hurt or angry if she never loved me?”
When it came to whether or not Ellis had ever loved him, Easton couldn’t seem to find a clear answer.
He really wanted to believe that she had once loved him. But how could he forget that, for wealth and status, she’d drugged him, forcing herself into his life as his woman? Step by step, she’d worked her way up, charming his mother and convincing her to pressti him into marrying her. He hadn’t forgotten any
of it.
Sophia once again felt like she couldn’t catch her breath, her face darkening with frustration
